Very good experience. The captain female - forgot name and deck mate female - forgot name - one of them was Amy were wonderful. Saw at least 8 whales. Saw 4 of them breach. The boat was comfortable. The bagel with salmon creme cheese spread was great. Also had hot chocolate. The deck mate was pleasant and seemed very knowledgeable about whales. We spent about 45 minutes at the Glacier, which was sufficient to view the glacier and the info center. A 15 minute movie was playing but I missed it twice my fault. A similar excursion was 65 more thru the cruise ship.
my only complaint is that the meeting place was said to be at the pier where the ship docked but actually it was at the tramway so i missed my 11:30 trip but caught the 1:00 but i was lucky that there was a vacancy at 1:00
Whale watching awesome with a great Skipper and Mate. Trip ran like clockwork but totally relaxed.
Lots of whales and friendly guides on a small but comfortable boat that made for easy viewing.
unbelievable. multiple whales, breaching and bubble feeding. very knowledgeable, efficient, and nice tour guides. do not hesitate to book!!!!!!
Troy and Captain Amy were fantastic. Very informative and saw lots of whales.
A very nice tour to get the most out of a visit to Juneau. The guides are very knowledgable and really knew what they were doing.
A great value! Highly recommended. Beat cruise ship prices by far.
the ship captain Amyshe is from ocean springs MS, anf Tyler, going to school in Belligham? for graphic design made it great. give them huge raises
Awesomeness at it's best. This shore excursion has it all, whales and glacier. Got to see the whales and enjoy them while viewing the beautiful scenery. The tour guide and the captain of the boat always provided us with information and knew where to spot them. Then the Mendenhall Glacier was amazing and beautiful and got to spot a porcupine just leaving the entrance for the glacier. This excursion is totally worth it!!!
Wonderful experience! The crew was knowledgeable and friendly, genuinely excited when pointing out the whales to us!
Everything was perfect. Right from the assembly point all the way up to completion of the trip. Thoroughly enjoyed. Real value for money. Highly recommended.
This was a fantastic excursion through Viator! From start to finish, everything was wonderful! Instructions were emailed to me regarding where to meet the young people who would direct us to the bus transportation and they were helpful and friendly. We had a bus driver who gave us a tour on the way to the glacier and to the boat. The captain of the boat made sure we saw many whales up close on our touring day. And both the buses and the boat were well maintained. It was a wonderful day!! I would use Viator again!!
This was a really great trip. The captain of the boat we were on knew just where to look for the whales and we saw a lot! We stopped the boat 100 yds from the whales but they came to us and were really close with a big baby who went under the boat. They have never been known to flip a craft over. The Mendanhall Glacier was nearby and we were taken there following the whale excursion. Well worth going to but I was v.unhappy that I, the paying customer, was expected to confirm the excursion when in Alaska. My mobile would not work and I had a lot of worry getting through, succeeding when another holiday maker leant me his mobile. Not good enough when you are paying a lot of money for the trip.
Wow! Just wow! I'm not sure if our experience is the same as everyone but we were able to see 20-30 whales in the area Captain Nick took us. Tyler, our naturalist, told us that it's not the season for whales breaching i.e. doing back flips like the picture shows but we saw a lot of breaching. This is the first time I've ever seen whales outside a zoo or park. And to see these majestic beasts less than 200 yards away is an experience I'll never forget. Big big thanks to Captain Nick and Tyler who were amazing and made this experience so incredible for me and my family.
We had a great tour guide who was very knowledgable and our boat captain was very into the excursion. We ended up seeing at least 4 whales, even a baby whale breaching, and two were very close to our boat. They offered refreshments and a snack and it was a great time.
Captain Amy and guide Ashley did their best to make sure that we saw the whales
Wonderful experience! Captain Amy and nature guide Ashley were both very knowledgable. Without wasting time, they were able to take us to the part of the ocean where humpback whales were gathering. We were very lucky that we saw over a dozen whales doing the bubble net feeding and 2 mother whales with baby whales. The Dolphin Jet boat was very very clean and updated. A friend traveling with me on the same Alaska cruise said her whale watching excursion boat was not half as nice as this one. Captain Amy circled the boat around slowly so people were able to observe the whales from both the front and the back areas of the boat and take pictures or in my case, observe through binoculars. My 11-year old son had a great time. Now we get to brag about seeing the uncommon phenomenon of whale bubble net feeding in person.
We enjoyed the whale and we saw several whales and porpoises. The boat crew was very friendly and informative. Highly recommend!
Absolutely loved the whale watching portion of this tour. Pods of whales so close our friends got sprayed!! The captain and crew were true professionals. Not sure we would repeat the glacier visit as we were headed to Glacier Bay.
Well organised and professionally executed. Both elements of the trip were very enjoyable and will provide lasting memories for yeasrs to come!
We enjoyed this trip although there was a mix-up at first with the number of passengers that were scheduled to ride our boat. We enjoyed seeing the humpback whales and sea lions and having the opportunity to take pictures, as well as see the surrounding sights. We also appreciated the snacks offered on board.
