Great! Saw lots of whales. Captain was good. Need better PA system, though.
This was a beautiful excursion. Watching the whales feed was amazing and breathtaking. The tour guides were wonderful and very accommodating. My family enjoyed it very much.
This was the best tour I have ever been on, and I have been on many tours. From the minute we stepped on the bus to begin the tour until we ended it was amazing. The bus driver had a big personality and was very informative about Juneau. The dolphin eco tour was spectacular. The hosts on board were very educated about whales and the captain of the boat knew just where to go to see the whales. We saw over a dozen whales and some sea lions and bald eagles. Everyone was so kind and informative. We had a person in a wheelchair and they could not do enough for them. The boat for the whale watching was amazing. We passed the double decker cruise tour where people were jammed in and couldn't get to the rail. We had plenty of rail room on our boat for everyone to see. Being a smaller boat than the double decker and having an experienced crew we were up close to the whales. The glacier was also amazing. We got our great bus driver who explained everything about the glacier. We had plenty of time to walk around. This was a five plus tour!!!!!
This was a great tour everything went our way, the weather was beautiful, the whales were on form and had a lovely walk to the waterfalls at the Glacier.
We loved the trip. It was our favorite. We saw many whales and thought we were going to get to walk on the glacier. We saw some salmon, a mother bear and 3 cubs. The cubs climbed a tree
It was raining as we all stood on deck watching at least 6 whales bubble-met feeding! A rare sight indeed. The captain seemed to know exactly where to go for maximum viewing. After we returned to the dock, a bus was waiting to take us to the Mendenhall Glacier which was awesome. All in all a great day despite the rain.
Excellent excursions on both water and land. The hot chocolate on the whale watching boat was a nice touch too!
this excursion was the highlight of our cruise. Lots of humpback whales and dolphins. Mendenhall Glacier was flooding which was a disappointment but no ones fault. significant savings were had versus booking this excursion with the cruise lines
It was great we were lucky to see about 10 whales bubble net fishing but we were disappointed when we started back to the dock we could have stayed out there for a couple of hours just watching them. Then we went to see seals and then off to the Glacier. On the plus side seeing the Mendenhall Glacier and "a porcupine up a tree" around the site was great. The commentary by the staff aboard the ship was great, the staff very friendly and helpful .
AMAZING tour!! Saw many humpback whales right away and even saw them feeding!! Great once-in-a-lifetime experience. Guide was great and very knowledgeable. It was great to have time on our own at the glacier. The trail to Nugget Falls was closed :( due to flooding but the view was spectacular. Highly suggest going whale watching first and then the glaciers after because of dense fog in the morning. The tour before us couldn't see the glacier in the morning and there was less whale activity in the afternoon.
The whale watching guides were excellent with Dolphin Jet Tours. There about 20 people on the boat which made for an enjoyable viewing experience. We saw 3 Orca's and the humpback whales were "bubble feeding" meaning that ~10 whales are feeding in the same spot. Were able to see 2 groups of whales during the outing. Highly recommend with great service. Tour was on time for all stops and provided helpful information along the way.
The whale watching portion of our tour was phenomenal!! There were 6-7 whales and our captain and tour guide were great. We saw what I believe they called a bubble feeding, it was awesome. At the Mendenhall Glacier we had rain and it was not the best day to view the glacier but would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alaska.
FAbulous!! They were very informative, professional and the trip was wonderful! The boat was fast to get us to the place where the whales were (1/2 hour) and right away we starting seeing whales "bubbling". Spectacular!! The only negative~ it ended too fast :( I should have booked a longer tour!
p.s. They also provided binoculars!
What a wonderful experience to see so many whales so close to our boat. I highly recommend this tour. The naturalist on board our boat seemed to be the most excited of all of us.
Absolutely fantastic! The boat was great, and not too crowded. We had excellent naturalists who were able to answer all our questions about whales and other wildlife. We were lucky enough to see orcas and see humpback whales doing bubble-net feeding, neither of which are common. While we were out we also saw a lot of bald eagles (which are common) and on the way back saw a huge group of sea lions basking on rocks. The snack was small but tasty; you wouldn't want to plan to make lunch out of it. We did the tour that had whale watching first and Mendenhall second, and we'd recommend that, because they allot an hour at Mendenhall and that feels a little short. We ended up staying past the allotted time, which we checked with the vendor about; they said it was no problem but we would miss their bus back to town and be on our own for getting back. We caught a cab back to the cruise terminal (about $35 plus tip). There is also a regular bus that loops back and forth from Mendenhall to town for about $10/person each way. There is plenty to do and see at Mendenhall, and if you have the time it's well worth it to slow down and check out some of the hikes and walks. Just don't miss your cruise!
We saw both orchas and humpback pods of whales, eagles, and sea lions, The tour guides were wonderful and filed us in on local items. The Mendenhall glacier center was informative. I got to touch a piece of the glacier they had brought into the visitor's center that day. Took lots of pictures and had a wonderful day.
We rate this trip full five stars +++. The weather conditions were perfect, crew with the boat were excellent. Couldn't have asked for more.
This was an amazing tour! We saw many whales, bald eagles, salmon, and seals. Ben and Captain Hook were awesome tour guides, very knowledgeable, and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this tour. I liked that we were on a smaller boat with only about 12 people. Intimate, personal, you didn't have to fight to see the whales...GREAT!
The tour was wonderful we saw several whales and the guides with very informative. It was worth every penny. Thank you for a great experience .
Excellent bus drivers, very knowledgeable .wonderful stories from local people.
We were able to see whales, seals, and sea lions. We saw several whales even one that breeched about 100 yards from the ship. We also were able to get within 50 yards of 10-15 sea lions that were playing on a buoy.
This was the best excursion we had on the trip.
It was great - finding whales is not the easiest, but our driver did it.
