A good choice!! We saw lots of whale, and harbour seals, at times the whales were VERY CLOSE to the boat. Allie our naturalist explained things in great detail and got as excited as everyone else, especially when one breached. Our boat captain was very good about getting as close as possible and positioning the boat for the best viewing. ONLY drawback, when we went to the Tram area to be picked up, no one seemed to know anything about VIATOR tours, so that made me nervous at first, but then Dolphin tours made a call and said they had our names for their tour.

The whale-watching was superb. Our naturalist was very good. We had a problem at Mendenhall Glacier. Our driver, Teresita, said we had time to walk to the falls. We were 2 minutes late for the bus and saw it leaving without us. We had left personal items on the bus .and were stranded. Richard from Dolphin Tours saved us and not only arranged a ride back to Juneau for us, but contacted the dispatcher and we retrieved our property. We were still upset that the bus abandoned us.

A very enjoyable trip on both the whale-watching and Mendenhall. The statement that you offered a snack was a little misleading. One cracker with a slice of smoked salmon would hardly qualify for a snack.

Whale watching guide was good although the few whales we saw were too far away.
Mendenhall Glacier was amazing to see and walk to, despite the weather.

Staff was excellent. Boat was good. Entire trip was timely. Only problem was the weather did not cooperate. Would highly recommend to others.

The whale watching was okay. We did see humpback one breach, but it was so far away that you needed to squint your eyes to see it. Also, saw a few flukes from the killer whales. Our guide was very nice.
The Mendenhall glacier was okay. The ranger station had very interesting information. My husband and I have been to the Athabasca outside of Jasper and thought it was a much better experience. For those in our group the Mendenhall was quite impressive. I guess I'm just comparing.

This excursion was not bad, but if I was planning the trip over again, I would choose to do something else. The whale-watching was ok, but not a lot better than I saw from the cruise ship. The "naturalist" on board was a kid working a summer job; not a professional naturalist by any stretch of the imagination. Mendanhall glacier was spectacular; I wish we'd had more time to spend there. The tour drops you off and gives you less than an hour to walk around and visit the Visitors' Center. The biggest problem with this trip is that our bus left the glacier early and left us behind! The tour company in Juneau had 3 buses of cruise passengers on this tour at the same time. At the glacier all the buses dump everyone off and tell them when to return. We were back at the pickup point on time, and saw our bus pull away as we walked up. The second bus driver hardly paid any attention to us as we explained what happened and left without letting us on or helping us. The third bus we just got on and explained what had happened once on board. We guess someone else boarded the our bus, the driver counted bodies, assumed everyone was there, and left early. This was especially frustrating since I had asked if we could arrange our own return to port in order to spend more time at the glacier and been told no because it was a legal liability. However, they obviously do not keep close track of their customers to ensure they are on the right bus and make it back to port.

We were very disappointed in the whale watching portion of the trip. The captain did not stay on the whales long enough. Also, do not like the jet boats as well as the boat style that we were on previously where you could all get to the top outside deck.

Not up to my expectations very few whales seen(2or 3) and not enough time at Glacier, Dropped off bus and only had one hour at glacier and had to be back on the bus.

There were only two "sightings" that were so far away you had to be an expert to know they were actually whales.
The bus ride to the "boat" was O.K.
The "boat" ride was very rough and some passengers sounded like they were hurting.
The "boat" was in very bad condition and you could smell the diesel gas like it was just poured on you.
The glacier tour was a bit "poor" to put it mildly.
I have been on quite a few tours (London, Paris etc.) arranged by Viator and this is the worst I have experienced.
