What You Can Expect
Afterward, step aboard a boat from Auke Bay for your 2-hour whale-watching cruise. Enjoy seeing an array of wildlife, such as seals, sea lions, bald eagles and black bears. When humpback whales and orcas are spotted, the boat will slow down so that you can snap the perfect action shot. Thirsty or need something to eat? No worries, snacks and beverages are available on board.
Return to port, where your coach whisks you to Mendenhall Glacier, one of 38 glaciers flowing from the massive 1,500-square-mile (3,885-sq-km) ice field. Explore the site at your own pace, as the shuttle back to Juneau leaves every 30 minutes, giving you flexibility. Drop-off at your Juneau hotel is also available.
Consider strolling along Nugget Creek Falls or Photo Point Trail, which winds along Mendenhall Lake and provides unobstructed views of the glacier. Interested in knowing more about the glacier’s formation? Browse interactive geological exhibits at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.
This three-part Viator Exclusive tour, showing you the best of Juneau and surrounding areas, is unique and can’t be found anywhere else.
Please note: This tour provides about 30 minutes to 45 minutes at Mendenhall Glacier. Plan your time accordingly at the glacier. If you would like to stay longer, you may have to skip the city tour.
Viator Exclusives combine unique experiences and great deals — from traditional tours to once-in-a-lifetime experiences — and are not available from other 3rd-party online sellers.
We definitely scored with the tour we booked through Viator. We got more for our money than most of the people on the bus and at a lower price. We had my 86-year old mother-in-law, my wife and her best friend in our group. The guides and drivers were very accommodating and informative. And, it's Alaska! How can you loose?!
Had a great time the staff were knowledgeable and we saw lots of whales a brilliant time thank you
great crew on boat, very informative, city tour and trip to the glacier also good
Great whale watching. The 2 guys on the boat we were on were the best guides we have ever encountered during our travels. Only one drawback, the tour operator should better coordinate the tour buses. There was some confusion by the buses. Otherwise a fantastic tour, we highly recommend it.
Well worth it. Spectacular scenery and great opportunity to see some majestic wildlife! Whatever you do don't forget your camera, especially for the whale watching!!
Great trip with lots of variety. all the sites were incredible and we did see some whales. The company was very flexible - we move the city tour a bit later in the afternoon so we could have lunch after the menhaden glacier. very fun full day in Juneau.
This was an outstanding tour. Simple overview of Juneau. Then we went to Mendenhall Glacier. Be sure to take the hike to the Nugget Falls. That alone would have been enough for a great day in Alaska. We were pretty beat and loving Alaska. But our day was not over...we went whale watching. The most amazing whale watching we've ever done. There were 3 pods of Whales Bubble Netting. Words and photos cannot describe it. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable and as enthusiastic as the passengers. It was a great day full of smiles for all.
Thanks so much. It was a wonderful experience. Specially the tour to watch the whales.!! Fantastic. I will recommend this tour to my friends and family.
We started with the whale watching which was awesome. The guide was excellent, she was informative, enthusiastic and friendly. We were all so excited to see several whales and the boats skipper made sure that we all had an opportunity to take photos.
We were taken from there to the Mendenhall Glacier which really is a spectacle. We walked to the waterfall and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
After the Glacier we should have returned to the Juneau bus depot for the Juneau City tour but we didn't have enough time to get back for this. It was after 5pm when we got back.
With hindsight I think we should have booked to start the trip earlier in the morning and then we could have fitted everything in. We chose 11:00.
We did have an amazing day and the trip was well worth the money.
