You’ll be picked up in the early morning from your Mpumalanga hotel for a relaxing drive by minivan or coach to the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, situated in the shadow of the majestic Mariepskop Mountain at the base of the Drakensberg escarpment in South Africa’s Limpopo Province.
When you arrive in the late morning, your expert guide will take you on an extensive walking tour of the center, which is home to many of South Africa’s abandoned, injured and poisoned wildlife. This tranquil sanctuary is committed to the rescue and care of animals in need of refuge and rehabilitation, and is a highly regarded contributor to wildlife education and endangered animal conservation around the world.
Hear the story behind the lions that were abandoned from an Egyptian circus. Witness the progress made by injured raptors and poisoned vultures, and see a host of cheetahs, wild dogs, leopards, honey badgers, eagles and many baby animals. Discover how these animals are rehabilitated with the help of their care takers, and learn all about the works of the center. Animal lover or not, you're sure to be uplifted and inspired by the efforts of this organization!
At the end of your tour, you'll be taken back to your Mpumalanga hotel. You'll leave with a whole new appreciation for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation efforts, and an awareness of the plight faced by wildlife today.
