The tour was fantastic. It included transportation, entry fees to six venues, lunch and time to shop in the Hand Craft Center in Kyoto. We had a great tour guide: sweet, personable and very informative. She had a good sense of humor, yet was professional on the tour. She kept the group on schedule, and wrote out in plain posters times to be back on the bus. Good job! I loved it!

Despite it being a very soggy day, we covered a lot of ground and saw some beautiful and interesting sights. The guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. The buffet lunch at the artisan center gave us a good mid-day break to rest and shop a bit before continuing on to the afternoon tour.

I recommend this tour for your first day in Kyoto. We saw more than would have been possible on our own. It was sometimes hard to hear and understand our guide. The second day we visited places we wanted to spend more time at. Our booking was hassle-free. I'll use them again!

I do recommend this tour for people with a short stay in Kyoto that want to see many sights in one day. Guides spoke good English, very attentive to their passengers and were knowledgeable. Lunch buffet was also very good. Great day!

Bottom line there is no way you could hit this many great sights on your own, unless you were a local. Many of the sights require reservations and other hassles to get into - the tour bypasses all that. Pros great sights, tour guide speaks good English, gives you a good 'sampler platter' of Kyoto. Cons mediocre lunch as expected, a bit too much time at the Handicraft Center, which is just where you can buy your tourist junk. Tips if you like lovely streets, don't take the bus back to your hotel at the end of the tour. Instead, walk down the shopping street at the base of Kiyomizu temple, then go to Ninnen-zaka and Sannen-zaka, two beautiful restored streets. You can walk to Gion from here in about 30 mins. The Southern Higashiyama Walking Tour in Lonely Planet's Japan book explains further or just ask your tour guide - they'll know what I'm talking about.

We had a fantastic time on this tour. Learnt so much about Japanese history and history on the architecture of the temples and shrines. Our guide was fantastic, very humorous and knowledgeable. The shopping at the handicraft centre was worth it and we got most of our shopping done there. Lunch was ample and we had plenty of time at all of the stops. Great tour and is a must!

The Golden Pavilion shone in the sun and with the lake in the foreground to give a reflection in the water -- it was a photographer's delight. Our guide told us of the purpose of each room in the Niji Castle which gave meaning to what we were seeing. Of course the the 1,000 images at Sanjusangendo was impressive. The serenity of the Kiyomizu Temple and its surrounding gardens made me feel I could stay there forever it was the most beautiful place.

I really loved the tour! I only had one day in Kyoto so I chose to do a tour, and it was the best idea. We saw all of the best sights in Kyoto, and we spent just the right amount of time at each one. Lunch was also excellent. I had a really great time. This is the perfect tour if you don't have much time to see Kyoto properly!
