Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Deluxe Grand Canyon South Rim Airplane Tour. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
The plane ride was easy and awesome and the view was amazing. We saw elk grazing right beside the road on the way to the South Rim. The only glitch was the driver was 20 minutes late in picking us up due to unforseen circumstances, so it was cold while we were waiting for him. The lunch box was not as good as the one we got on the West Rim bus tour with a different company.
We researched many different tours before selecting this one and I highly recommend it!! The whole experience with the Airlines, the tour operator, was flawless, and I am very pleased I found this tour through Viator. We were staying in Vegas and wanted to see the Grand Canyon South Rim we heard it was more colorful than the West Rim but were not able to drive or stay overnight. Although this tour is more expensive than a bus tour, it was 100 worth it as you did not have to spend 8 hours on a bus round trip. The tour offered two different times during May, so we went with the 2pm, allowing us to have the entire morning and get back to Vegas in time to have dinner and enjoy the night there! The tour was perfectly organized like other reviewers mentioned. Everyone from the customer service reps on the phone to the trolley/bus drivers to the pilots were friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
I would also recommend adding the helicopter option as it really was beautiful to see the Canyon from that vantage point. If you choose the helicopter option, you only get to see Bright Angel Lodge on the ground if you don't choose the helicopter option, you get to see both Mather Point and Bright Angel Lodge on the ground. That was the only downside but the helicopter was definitely an experience to remember and I don't regret it! The helicopter was also super smooth and not choppy at all. This was truly a wonderful experience and again, I highly recommend it!
Very satisfied with our trip. The pilots were really nice and even helped out with a situation I had. The Grand Canyon should be on everyone's bucket list. The thing I liked the best was getting back to our hotel with plenty of time do a bunch of other cool stuff. Definitely worth the upgrade over the bus.
This is the only way to see the Grand Canyon. The tour was fantastically well organised. From the pick up in the morning to the drop off in the afternoon, the tour ran like clockwork. All the staff from the tour company were friendly and willing to answer any questions. An unforgettable experience.
Fantastic trip and the people were so nice. One of the pilots even took a pic of me by the plane. I loved the plane trip immensely. The tour guide was also fantastic. Bruce was his name. I would recommend this trip with 5 stars. I admire these people and what they do
The tour was amazing! We used Viator this summer in Paris and was very happy with the tour so we used the same tour company again . The only complaint that I had was that I specifically ordered vegetarian lunches for my entire family and they did not have any for us. We had no lunch !
Very professional and well organised. I had a great day thanks to Maverick. Highly recommended
Everything was brilliant from the hotel pick up to pilots can't recommend this trip enough. The best way to see the grand canyon in half a day
I took the trip from Las Vegas. It was extremely well organized and very interesting. The helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I highly recommend taking this trip.
Though one of the most expensive day trips Ive taken, I highly recommend this to anyone! The staff were all amazing, down to the drivers that picked us up/ dropped us off. You could tell this company knows their business- everyone was really efficient, punctual, friendly, the pilots/ drivers were great. And the views are phenomenal. Definitely do the helicopter add-on if youre able to, its worth every penny!
Have to say this tour lives up to it's rating. Flights saved us so much time, we weren't up early and had the whole night still in Vegas. Flights were great, as were our pilots, especially Eric! Lunch was good, everything ran smoothly and the Canyon was spectacular.
Plus, I proposed to my girlfriend and she said yes, so a pretty memorable time all round!!!! :-D
I only had one day available to see the Grand Canyon. Viator/tour company provided that opportunity to me with complete style. Our flight from Henderson Executive airport to the South rim was a mere 40 minute ride offering nice views of the Grand Canyon from 15K feet. I chose to shorten my time on the ground to 1 hour and opted for the Helicopter air tour. I was very please I made this choice as the I got to see so much more of the Grand Canyon from the spectacular viewpoint from the Helicopter. The staff, including the pilots and bus drivers were all very professional and friendly. All scheduled times, from hotel pickup, take off and landings, to return to hotel were very prompt. Overall, I'm very pleased with the tour!
Great trip, highly recommended, scenic and take advantage of the optional helicopter tour, you won't regret it And will see some amazing scenery, just beautiful. The NationL Park was breathtaking, so glad I did this tour, forget the West Rim, thismismthe way to do it!
The tour was perfectly organised, from booking to pick-up service from the hotel in Las Vegas. Everybody had a window seat and our pilots were very friendly and helpful. Grand Canyon was really amazing, stunning views and a life time experience. Although not a bargain it was definitely worth the price ! We would book Maverick Airlines again and can highly recommend it !
A truly fantastic day, very we'll organised. Would fully recommend. A memory to treasure
We loved our trip to grand canyon. The crew and the staff were very nice. I would highly recommend it.
It was an Amazing tour. The Pilots were very helpful and made sure each one of us was taken care of. During the flight to Grand Canyon, each of us could walk to the cockpit and interact with the Pilots...... Just Amazing....
This tour is exactly as described by other reviewers. We chose the afternoon and were picked up promptly at our hotel, transferred to Henderson, boarded our plane and enjoyed a pleasant flight of about 45 minutes to the south rim. We were met by Bruce our driver and tour guide on the red trolley bus and taken to two viewing areas with adequate time at each before our return flight to Vegas. A great half day out with a very professional operated and well worth the cost!
I can't find right words to describe it. It was just fantastic, fabulous, amazing, spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And our pilots in plane and helicopter did my trip safe and even more interesting and funny! And our bus driver, of course! :)
I met a lot of interesting and nice people during this tour, and the Grand Canyon itself is soooooo beautiful and huge that it makes you breathless. I wish everyone could see this beauty with his own eyes!
Thank you so much for one of the most exciting and unforgettable trips of my life!!!
P.S. If you have enough time, book a tiny house right there at the Canyon.
The tour company in Vegas answered our initial questions on the phone easily and were really friendly. We were picked up on time from our hotel (Planet Hollywood) in a small minibus and the airstrip wasn't far at all. Our flight in the fixed wing plane was comfortable and only 45 mins - our pilots encouraged us to come up to the cockpit during the flight to get better views and to ask them questions. Upon approaching and circling at the Grand Canyon air strip our two pilots dealt with the landing gear not coming out properly calmly and professionally and we were well informed as passengers about what was happening or going to happen. After returning to the Vegas air strip again we were put on another fixed wing plane within an hour and were offered a free sandwich or pastry and a free coffee or soda from the little shop there. Our new flight went without a hitch and upon landing safely at the Canyon air strip we were picked up in a bright red trolley by a fantastically friendly and funny guide called Brian. He explained everything for us so we knew exactly what would happen next and we were taken to wait for our helicopter ride. There were toilet facilities readily available there and when our turn came we were offered photo opportunities at the aircraft win our own camera. We had our incredible Heli ride and breathtaking views of the Canyon with our experienced pilot who gave us lots of information as we flew and made us feel very safe too. We then got back on the red trolley and were taken on a short journey into the national park, bypassing queues of cars. We were given a fab lunch of a turkey roll, crisps, cookies and a bottled water which we ate right there on the rim of the canyon - amazing! We had just under an hour to walk around before getting back on the trolley and taken to the strip for a short plane ride back to Vegas. All in all, a fantastic day, run really smoothly - well worth the money. We would both do it agin in a heart beat!
We would highly recommend this tour!! The flight to the Grand Canyon was great! The pilots where really great and our Driver of the trolley was Bruce, and he was awesome! Great tour guide! Would definitely do this tour again!!
The bus picked us up at our hotel shortly after 6am and following a few other stops at hotels on the Strip, we headed to Henderson airfield. There is a small coffee shop at the airfield, however the selection was limited. The plane journey from Henderson to the Canyon was OK - you get a far off view of the Hoover dam, and see the Colorado river, however the front seat helicopter ride we got when at the Canyon was truly breathtaking and definitely the highlight. We were given approximately an hour to spend at Angel Lodge drop off so got to eat our packed lunch in front of breathtaking scenery. The bus then picked the whole group up and dropped those who weren't doing the helicopter at another lookout, but for those doing the helicopter, we couldn't get out. Would have been nice to have spent a little time at this location, but we had to head back to Canyon airfield to catch the helicopter ride. You are not allowed any bags on the helicopter and these can be left behind the reception desk (they aren't secured or locked away so we decided to take anything important out). Our pilot B.J was very informative and fun for the journey. We bought the souvenir picture when we got back as its a cool memento of our trip. You are able to take as many pictures and video recordings as you like on the trip and our pilot was happy to answer any questions we had. It was our first experience of a helicopter and it will definitely be hard to beat. Would highly recommend the helicopter add on to this trip as although the walk around was lovely, it doesn't give you anywhere like the experience the helicopter offers.
