(April 2014) WOW! my wife and I had a great experience taking this tour. Since this was probably a one time visit to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon we decided to splurge a bit and take the optional helicopter ride -- what a treat that was and money very well spent. everyone associated with the tour did an exceptional job.
Brilliant way to see the canyon. Todd and Austin our plane pilots were great fun. Marion our coach driver was a mine of useful information (and some terrible jokes :) ). Dave Rasmussen the helicopter pilot must have one of the best jobs in the world. An awe inspiring way to see the canyon. We took the afternoon trip so experienced sunset on the way back.
If you are in Vegas for a few days then this trip is a worthwhile excursion. We were picked up from our hotel at 6.30am and got back around 2pm. Tip - taking the early flight gets you into the Grand Canyon NP long before the mass tourists so the crowds were very light and made access to the paths and viewing points very easy.
The South rim is way better and much more impressive than the west rim's Skywalk so we made the right decision. The in-flight views to and from the South rim were also magnificent and the pilots pointed out all major landmarks on the way. We didn't opt for the helicopter trip. A really excellent experience - only let down by the tour company holding us in their reception for 15minutes before consolidating other flights onto the Vegas bound buses.
Great trip on a perfect day. Would have liked a little more time at the canyon.
This is an excellent trip and well organised with one caveat. If you take the optional helictopter tour the seats are allocated ' by computer' but you are not told where you will sit until it starts. Of the seven passenger seats available two have an excellent view, three have an ok view and two have a poor view with limited photo opportunities. Even if you are seated in a poor view you will pay the same as for an excellent view. They perhaps ought to rethink this either not using these two seats and upping the price for the other five seats or offering these at lower cost. My husband and I got an ok view and a poor view but at least I could take pjhotos and video from my ok view. On our particular trip there was also an issue with the bus guide leaving someone behind in the national park so we all had to wait for her to drive back and get them and then back in LV everyone else was waiting for our planes so that we could all be bussed back to our hotels although I do not think this happens usually!!
A great way to see the south rim from Las Vegas if you don't want to spend 15 hours on a bus! I recommend this tour highly. The ground staff at the tour company were friendly and efficient, and our pilots Mike and Todd were very professional, ensuring safety was a priority throughout the flight. The South Rim itself is a truly spectacular sight... I did wish we were given just a bit more time while there to explore. We stopped at Bright Angel point and Mather Point while there and were given about 55 minutes at each location to walk the paths, take pictures, visit the shops etc. I never made it to the gift shop, there was just too much to look at outside.... As an added bonus, I was able to snap a few pics from the plane as well (Hoover Dam, Colorado river, etc.). The cost of the tour made this a splurge for me, and I was NOT disappointed.
Excellent tour from start to finish. The staff were all very friendly and professional and were willing to answer any questions you had. The views of the south rim were amazing and definitely worth paying the extra for the helicopter ride. All highly recommended . Thank you
We did the Grand Canyon air and ground tour with Maverick airlines. It was perfect for us to see the south rim in a day. Everything ran smoothly from the pickup from our hotel to the plane and bus trip. We felt that we had plenty of time to see the sights at the 2 viewing stops. The views were spectacular. We had a funny bus driver - Bruce (Omar) who kept us entertained while explaining the sights. The pilots of the plane were also very informative and allowed us each to come up to look out the cockpit's window. I would recommend this trip,to anyone who only has a day to see the Grand Canyon. It really gives you a feel of the place and you see a whole lot more by flying over it in the great plane where everyone has a window seat.
Wonderful ...very professionnal, very well organized and very confortable.. Best way to get a a glimpse at the reality of the Gran Canyon. Only thing a bit wrong (for french people) : the picnic is absolutely not eatable.
Thank you to our marvellous pilots
We loved this tour! Prompt pick up time, really nice drivers (think the one at the Canyon was called Marion), friendly pilots who pointed out all the sights along the way and invited everybody to the cockpit to capture some amazing photos. The views from the South Rim are out of this world - so worth taking the time to do the South Rim tour rather than Grand Canyon West - the views are much better. All in all I can't fault this trip, fantastic value for money!
Very enjoyable tour. A great way to see the Grand Canyon both from the air and on the ground, without taking up a full day. Well organised, efficient hotel pickups, friendly staff. Recommended
The Viator agents were superb and everything was as described and went smoothly from hotel pick-up, to flight and bus tour and drop-off back to the hotel. The staff, pilots and guide of the tour company were all excellent; friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for us.. and a great packed lunch too. Then there was the Canyon of course! A great trip all round.
