Wow, talk about stepping back into history! Clambering around a ruined fort on an island, wandering through a massive ancient monastery, strolling through cute towns and having an amazing lunch at a restaurant for a handful of Euros. Then a great finish having our first taste of the wonderfuil local liquor Ginja with a coffee within the ancient castle walls on top of a small mountain.
A wonderful day in the countryside of Spain, made all the better by our guide Miguel from CooltourLx who is passionate about the history of the area.

Thoroughly enjoyed this day trip. Our guide talked non stopped about interesting facts. It was nice having an intimate and detailed trip. Our time at convent of Christ was absolutely interesting and more people should go here

Fantastic tour of detailed history of the Knights Templar in Portugal. We had super visits to castles, churches and monasteries. Add that to the talents of the expert, native guide who took us off the beaten track to discover the heart of Portugal, in small villages to enjoy great food and wine, all authentic, non-touristy and reasonable. This was one of the best tours we have taken. Highly recommend it .

OMG!!! This was one of my favorite tour of Portugal. If anyone has interest about The Knights of The Templar History, this is the tour for you. Miguel is the "Knight Templar" Connoisseur. Plus he took us to a local Restaurant in Tomar where all the locals go. That was the best meal I had in Portugal and the least expensive one. Viator did good by using CoolTour for the tours from Lisbon.

Words can never describe the amount of fun that we had on our "Knights of Templar" tour! My boyfriend and I booked this tour for the Castle Almoral alone...but was thrilled that the tour included so much more! We had the most amazing, knowledgeable, sweet, punctual tour guide; THANKS Madeline!!!! She really made us feel comfortable, welcomed, and completly informed on the Castles and the Order of the Knights of Templar! She also made an amazing suggestion on lunch at a local place in Tomar that was TOP NOTCH!
If you are, in any way shape or form, thinking about this tour....stop thinking and book it now! You will NOT regret it! Thank you for giving us a beautiful memory, lasting treasured information, and the opportunity for some amazing pictures!

After reading all the excellent reviews for this tour before I booked it I have to agree with them. It was just my son and I and the guide and he was great,- a superb driver on very difficult wet roads and has so much knowledge of the Templars. We took his advice for lunch and it was delicious some local dishes. He even took us back through Fatima as well. The service was excellent and fun and I would highly recommend this tour,

Absolutely great tour of three Knights Templar castles outside of Lisbon due to the tour guide. He has a great linguistic, historical, and cultural background. These knights faught Muslim dominance in Iberian peninsula. After Templar's were disolved by King of France, they became Order of Christ in Portugal. Tour was vigorous, with seven passengers and took 10 hours including unexpected visit to Fatima.
