Loved it! The tour guide was absolutely the best! He even dressed like Jack the Ripper. He didn't limit it to just that story. He talked about London and specific interesting spots on the way to East London and certainly knew a lot about Jack the Ripper. Take the tour.

We were a little disappointed with this tour. First we were expecting a smaller tour group. the large group meant a wide age range and some difficulty getting from place to place quickly. Also the guide was informative but not theatrical enough for this sort of tour.

I am a professional filmmaker. I am VERY sensitive to intellectual property rights, copyright issues, and legal clearances to filming. However, our tour guide chose to rip in to me, no pun intended, for daring to videotape random shots during this tour. I endured quite a tongue lashing from him, in front of the 13 other guests, for taking "artsy" mood shots of the streets, the wind in the leaves, water running down gutters, etc. I was told that I "was not allowed to film my copyrighted material" and that I was not allowed to videotape any of the tour. Well, I take extreme offense at this! First of all, if this was an issue, why was it not clearly stated on the website, restated on check-in, and then stated upon boarding the bus? Further, in terms of "copyrighted material", it is utterly impossible to copyright a verbal statement of historical fact. "On August 8, 1888, the first body was found approximately right here" is about as copyrightable as "George Washington was the first president of the United States." And it is not against the law to tape video of a deserted street at night! I was highly insulted by my treatment on this tour!

The walking tour was definitely worth doing and the blue badge guide was knowledgeable and informative. The murders were covered in detail and you walked to many relevant landmarks in the Whitechapel area. Some people were disappointed that there was not a lot of actual sites, buildings, streets remaining as they would have been in 1888 and you had to use your imagination a bit to conjure up the images. There were also many other walking tour groups in the area doing the same thing and many at a cheaper price and at times it was quite crowded. This particular tour had the advantage in that it was not as big as some others and you could hear easily and ask questions. Overall it was worth doing.

This was very disappointing. The guide was good with information of the subject, but the actual tour was lacking. Just seemed like we walked around trying to imagine what it should be like.
