I loved my tour. Roo was our guide and my group was small, only 5 people! I learned so much about the Brixton community and its history as well as had some delicious food. Portuguese custard tarts, fish and callaloo buns, a fererro rocher inspired vegan cupcake tasted just like the real thing!, and a charcuterie/cheese/bread plate with local Brixton beer. That was just in Brixton! When we got to Borough Market we had an amazing chorizo sandwich and some salted caramel chocolates that were to die for. It was a really enriching and filling! experience that I highly recommend!
We had a superb trip. Our guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area and culture. Brixton was an area we would not have felt happy to visit previously but will definitely be back. Since many of the fruit and vegetables on sale at Brixton Market were unknown to us, more time to find out what they were and how to use them would have been good.
This was a great tour of both markets, which made for a very enjoyable experience. Brixton was amazing, giving you an understanding of the number of multi-national groups that currently make Brixton Markets so fascinating. The contrast between the two is something to see and at some stage in the future, Brixton will be as popular as Borough Markets. John was an extremely knowledgable and informative guide, who made the tour such a worthwhile experience. A must if you are a foodie with a real love of all that makes life so good.
Very enjoyable tour, our guide Cat was great and very informative, the Brixton market was much more interesting then the too-touristic-Borough market
Really enjoyed the tour! Kat was a very informative and pleasant guide..must do for all foodies!
This is a great tour - perfect amount of time, not too much walking and really a must if you enjoy food. Our tour guide Kat was knowledgable, fun and a great ambassador for Brixton. You will get to taste a variety of foods and learn a lot along the way. I have food allergies and Kat was great about maintaing the experience for me. I would highly recommend this tour.
This was a "do-not-miss" experience! John was a TERRIFIC guide with information about the local neighborhood and an obvious love for the markets and the merchants. We tasted to our hearts' content and made some wonderful purchases to take back with us.
I was not aware of how alive and fun Brixton is. I loved the Markets and tasting various foods. We met a lot of nice people that would stop and talk about their foods with us. I felt very welcome on this tour. It was a great introduction to both of these areas.
I loved this tour. It was great fun, interesting, Erin was brilliant, she really knows her area, the food was fabulous and I learned so much about an area that I have never really explored in such detail. Erin took us to markets, to see sculptures, a mural, and of course the food....started with Portuguese custard tarts yumyum, we had really scrummy warm doughballs with delicious salt fish filling....which inspired me to buy saltfish in a local shop along with other interesting spices and later english charcuterie and lovely cheeses tried in a little deli-shop restaurant at lunch time.....this really was a fabulous food lover's tour. I would do this tour again and I would definately be interested in taking another area or type of tour with Erin again. Oh nearly forgot vegan choccy muffin and a superb rocket and spicy sausage sandwich.Thank you so much I could eat one right now
This was a great experience. I have been to London before but never to this area our guide John was a character but professional committed and very knowledgeable. I could not have wished for a better guide
This trip starts in Brixton with a taster of some Caribbean food. I had never heard about Brixton markets but as we wandered through, the vibe of all the cultures that had settled in the area really came to light. Lots of interesting and funny snippets of history and LOTS of samples :) The trip ends at Borough market which is great. I spent most of the afternoon wandering around the stalls. Great trip, thank-you!
A fantastic tour! Very interesting and entertaining. John our guide was interesting and knew all of the history of the areas we were in. The food we had was very tasty and unusual all made and sourced locally. Had a fantastic morning and would defiantly recommend this tour.
Brixton Market was interesting and diverse, an area would not have gone to on our own but glad we went there. Bourough Market was quite amazing and for all the times we have been in London, it was our first visit. Would definately go back to it again.
For any foodie with a sense of history this tour makes sense. A delightful morning with a wonderful hostess made this tour quite special for the group in attendance and the food samples were of great quality. Thoroughly recommend/
Enjoyed this very much. Guide was very good with the history of brixton. Enjoyed all the food sampled. Had time to wander around.
Excellent tour guide and good selections. Not enough time was spent at Borough Market to justify the additional travel. Would probably work better as a Brixton only food tour.
We did the Tour on Saturday 29-Mar-2014. We enjoyed the CannonandCannon's Cheese Salon at the Brixton Market. The Scottish Eggs is an excellent choice to try with pickled pear and cucumbers.
We also like to hear the history of the Borough Market and cheese sandwich.
Our tour guide was very entertaining and informative. We really recommend the this walking tour.
The markets in itselves were interesting but the guide had no knowledge of food and ur tour should be renamed 'junk food tour' I expected to experience carribean or african food in Brixton but we just had british and junk food, in Borough market the deluxe sandwich was a terrible fritter of sandwich bread and melted cheese. We did not visit interesting stalls or had any food presentation. I threw away most of the food presented.
This was such a waste of money. For £45 per person, we expected a really good food tour. We didn't pay for a Brixton history tour. We expected a real tasting tour with partner restaurants or food stalls. Our tour guide wasn't good as well. People shouldn't book this tour at all!
