What You Can Expect
Your half-day London tour begins in the morning at Victoria Coach Station in city center. Meet your friendly guide and grab a seat in the vintage red double-decker bus, then sit back and take in fantastic views of the city awakening around you. As you ride, hear interesting anecdotes about passing local sites such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey – the venue for every coronation since the 11th century and for 16 royal weddings!
Next head to the banks of the Thames River, where you’ll get an up-close view of the formidable Tower of London. Built by William the Conquerer in the 11th century, the site has a long and stormy history as a prison and execution site. Before continuing on, hear a bit about the famous Beefeater Guards and the Crown Jewels that are housed in the impenetrable fort.
At Tower Pier, board a sightseeing boat and grab a seat in the glass-encased saloon or on the open deck. Drift in comfort along the banks of the historic River Thames and discover London’s history through lively audio commentary. Relax as the boat makes a short loop under the London Bridge, passing the Houses of Parliament, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and the London Eye.
After your cruise, hop back on the bus and head to Buckingham Palace to watch the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony. Marvel at the precision and tradition of the ritual, performed by the Queen’s Foot Guard and a military band. Your tour concludes around noon at Kensington Palace. Disembark here to get some tea and biscuits, or to take an optional interior tour of Kensington Palace (own expense). Upgrade your tour to include a traditional fish and chips lunch at a London pub!
Great tour! The guide was very entertaining, knowledgeable, and friendly! This tour takes you through the main tourist sites in central London, without spending too much time at any one place. It is a great way to get an introduction to the city, and allows you to make note of what you'd like to see again on your own. The boat ride on the Thames was a nice plus. The best part of the tour was the changing of the guard, as our tour guide new exactly where we needed to be, and when, to get the most out of the event. I'd also recommend you bring a jacket as it can get chilly on top the bus, and I took this tour during early July. If you can, try to be one of the first people to get on the bus so you can pick the best seats, usually in the very front covered, or back of the bus. HIghly recommended!
The bus tour was fantastic. We were 40 min late got lost on the way they waited for us and said We wouldn't lead without you!
The bus was a classic double decker. The tour guide Nick was great.mhe was animated, funny and knowledgable. We weaved in and out of London traffic, saw the changing of the guard and many other interesting sites along the way.
I would recommend this to my friends and family.
This was an awesome tour. Our guide was amazing.
Great mix of bus and boat. Fantastic introduction to main tourist sites in Westminster. Highly recommended guide.
We liked the tour and the stops at Westminster, the Thames River cruise, St James Palace, the changing of the guards there and the walk with the guards to Buckingham Palace. Nick, our guide, was excellent, giving us the extraordinary English history in a colorful manner. The 'free lunch' was not free, as one of our party is allergic to fish, we changed one item on the menu and were charged full price, even though the non-fish choice was less expensive! Yes, we would take another tour with this company.
This was a great tour. It takes you to all the sites and the guide was great.
A wonderful experience, even the dull weather didn't spoil our trip. The courier was polite very organised and with her knowledge we had possibly the best view of the guards and band as the front of Buckingham palace is always crowded, we all managed to get some lovely photos.
Finishing at Harrods we enjoyed being pampered with a wonderful lunch.
Thank you all so much.
The open top bus tour was informative and excellent. The driver and tour guide were excellent. There River Thames Cruise was short and did not offer any narrative.
Great overview despite awful traffic snarls. Tour guide had wonderful personality. Only drawback--tour promises great view of changing of the guard. That and #39;s why everyone on our bus chose it. We got there almost late after being told we might miss it and had a poor view.
The tour meeting point was easy to access, lose to tube, coach and train station. The guide was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. It was a nice variation with the coach and river cruise. There was no commentary on the river cruise. I was a bit disappointed with the changing of the guard. By the time we got there it was very crowded and we could not see the actual change over.
