Your train from London's King's Cross Station whizzes you due North passing through the Midlands and its canals and market towns, then past old mill towns built during the Industrial Revolution before skirting England's East coast to arrive at the Royal City of Edinburgh. Right by the station you can board the open-top sightseeing bus where you'll get a bird's eye view of the city. The Castle was built high on a hill in the 11th Century, with spectacular rock face, so as to deter invaders and the view from the Castle walls across the City and beyond is spectacular. You can also see the Scottish Crown Jewels, believed to be the oldest crown jewels in Europe.
