Your tour begins with a journey across the Chiltern Hills to Oxford, whose elegant timeworn buildings and courtyards have inspired generations of scholars (including Bill Clinton in the 1970s!). During your walking tour you will see the Bodleian Library and Christ Church College, where Harry Potter scenes were filmed and where Albert Einstein studied.
Stratford-upon-Avon
Next, you'll travel through the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, an area steeped in history and heritage, to Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of the famous playwright William Shakespeare. You can visit Shakespeare's Tudor-era home, with its typical parlor, bedrooms, kitchen and buttery. You'll also see the glove-maker's workshop used by Shakespeare's father. You will have time to explore this charming market town, with its many unusual shops and boutiques.
Before heading back to London, you will enjoy a local "scrumpy tea" (apple scones and cider) and locally produced specialties in the beautiful gardens of Anne Hathaway's Cottage. The picture-postcard half-timbered childhood home of William Shakespeare's wife is set in lovely surroundings and contains a treasure trove of historic domestic artifacts.
