Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Southampton Shore Excursion: Pre-Cruise Tour from London to Southampton via Stonehenge. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
I am not sure my first review went through.
We really liked this excursion. The purpose of it was to get to Southampton to board the Ruby Princess for our cruise. This just made it an easy, easy way to get there. And, it was scenic by stopping by Stonehenge. The coach, run by International Friends, was spacious and the pickup was very, very easy. We have used Viator before and we will use Viator again!
the pickup was on time, we just had a few hotels after us for pickups, we then picked up 4 people at heathrow. i dont know if heathrow is out of the way, maybe they could have done a separate pickup for them and brought them to the london pickup point to save time. the stonehedge admission was not included in the tour price for viator customers, viator should put thisin the tour description, admission is 6-8 pounds so it is not expensive. the bus driver did a great job of circumventing the port traffic. the company used is international friends and they seemed to have their act together. they got us to the ship around 1pm which was perfect timing for lunch. i would use them again
It was a wonderful experience, thanks to our wonderful and very funny driver. He made the trip very enjoyable and certainly informative. He got us on time w/ plenty of spare on our embarkation .
The bus picked us up in front of our hotel on time and we made our way to Stonehenge with but one bus change in the city. It seems like several buses meet at the bus station and consolidate the tours. It was easy and the luggage was handled without complication. There was much traffic as we got close to Stonehenge, and the driver took us along a short-cut through the countryside that seemed to save quite a bit of time. Stonehenge was quite crowded and our driver obtained tickets and guided us along to the entry. With an agreed-upon time to meet back at the bus, we were on our own with a self-guide headset. Great fun - glad we we added the stop on our way to Southhampton.
We were able to get to see Stonehenge but the bus driver showed us to be one of the couples who hadn't paid. We showed him our voucher and for a time, that wasn't good enough. He took a phone photo of the voucher and sent it to his manager so we were finally able to get that behind us and see Stonehenge. One of my bucket list items checked off. Beautiful landscape as well
This was our second "Tour" of this kind because we did the same thing on May 26th to get to London from Harwich after arriving in England on the Brilliance of the Seas. The guide was ok - the weather was awful. We didn't do the tour around the site because we did that on 26March. This time we just wanted to get from London to Southampton to get the QM2 back westbound.
I was surprised that the driver told us we have to buy our own ticket to Stonehenge. Whole bus people except three of us has to purchase our own tickets because we reserved our tour through your company. Transport from hotel to Southampton is okay.
Never got picked up as arranged was a total stuff up and had to organize another transfer to take us to ship
Sat in hotel lobby for 3 hours waiting
Even when we did organize pick up original contractor went to wrong hotel , I was told you are not supposed to be at that hotel
Finally got pick up from original booked hotel after many phone calls and had to pay another £220 pounds
