Travel along the Pacific Coast Highway (route 1), one of the most scenic and famous coastal drives in the world from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

After a short city tour of Los Angeles including stops at Hollywood Walk of Fame, Rodeo Drive and Grauman's Chinese Theater, you will begin the trip along the California coastline. After a short stop on Santa Barbara continue to the Danish inspired town of Solvang before ending the day with an overnight stop in Santa Maria.

On the second day you follow Route 1 through the Big Sur region of California's central coast where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. See the majestic giant Redwoods, the tallest tree species on Earth and stop in Carmel before finishing your tour in San Francisco - the City by the Bay.

In 2008 the tour will take a different route to San Francisco, traveling the famous 17 Mile Drive instead of Route 1.

Itinerary:

Day One: Los Angeles - Santa Barbara - Santa Maria
This morning, take a sightseeing tour of Los Angeles stopping at Grauman's Chinese Theater, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and then to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Continue north to the charming Spanish-style coastal city of Santa Barbara for a short stop. Continue to Solvang, the Danish capital of America " Velkommen" where everything is the Danish - windmills, quiet streets, horse drawn carriages, Danish bakeries and authentic Danish costumes worn by some shop keepers. Overnight in Santa Maria.

2007: Day Two: Santa Maria - Carmel - Monterey - San Francisco
Follow Route 1 through the Big Sur area and take in the California coast with its rocky embankments and steep sea cliffs jutting into the clear blue waters of the Pacific. Sightings of sea lions and other marine life playing in the coves and on the beaches are possible and, cypress trees and majestic redwood trees can be seen. Stop at Carmel, a mecca for artists, writers and actors with a European ambiance where you are free to stroll through winding streets and explore secluded alleyways, courtyards and arcades. Continue to Monterey, a beautiful seaside community before ending the day on arrival in San Francisco, "The City by the Bay".

2008: Day Two: Carmel - 17 Mile Drive - Monterey - San Francisco

Travel north to Carmel-by-the-Sea, a town known for its former Mayor, Clint Eastwood. Drive along the California Coast on the 17 Mile Drive, one of the most scenic drives in the United States. You will see striking vistas of the Pacific Ocean, beautiful beaches, golf courses, and numerous mansions. After a stop in Monterey, continue north and end the day on arrival to San Francisco, "The City by the Bay".
