Few life experiences can match swimming alongside a whale shark – the largest fish species in the sea! Known to grow up to a length of 41 feet (13 meters), these filter feeders migrate annually to the temperate waters of Baja to eat plankton during winter months in the plentiful Sea of Cortez. It’s one of the few spots in the world where you can get up close to a whale shark!
After hotel pickup in Los Cabos, board your comfortable, air-conditioned minivan and drive through the coastal desert along the highway to La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur. Upon arrival, your guide will prepare you for this unsurpassed experience.
Local boat captains transport your small group just off shore into the gorgeous Sea of Cortes. En route to your snorkeling spot, your expert guide will point out other sea life, including whales, rays and dolphins that share these clear waters.
After a safety briefing, put on your snorkeling gear and jump into the sea, where you’ll come eye-to-eye with a whale shark as you snorkel just inches away from these incredible creatures. Be awed by their size and gentle grace as you swim alongside these docile fish and learn from your guide about their feeding habits.
Afterward, head back to La Paz and relax on the city's malecon (boardwalk) as you indulge in a local lunch of Baja-style tacos and cold beverages. Stroll around town, including a visit to a marina museum, before returning to your hotel in Los Cabos filled with amazing memories.
