Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Hot-Air Balloon Ride over Toledo or Segovia with Optional Transport from Madrid. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
This was my highlight excursion in Madrid. I felt safe with Jose, the balloonist, who took us up to 3000 feet. I was scared at first but quickly got into the quiet serene views of the castle and old town Segovia. Glad I took a jacket! After we landed, we cheered to bubbly and snacks. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Thank you!
We opted for the free transport from our hotel a little outside the centre of Madrid and were not disappointed, especially as the pilot (whose English was very good) took us back afterwards. It's an early start (5.30am) from Madrid but certainly well worth it, and we were back around midday so had the rest of the day to enjoy. We certainly think that Segovia was the best choice, with great views of this wonderful old city. Finally, I would say that, for first timers, the very large basket, holding about 16 people, definitely felt safer that some of the smaller baskets we saw on other balloons that day !!!
HAD TO GET UP AT 4AM FOR A 5AM PICKUP.WAS NOT TOLD THAT IN ADVANCE.HAD TO CLIMB A 4 FOOT BASKET TO GET INTO THE RIDE.WAS CRAMMED INTO A 3X3 FOOT SECTION OF THE BASKET MEANT FOR 2 PEOPLE AT THE MOST,THER WAS 3 OF US IN THAT SECTION.COULD BARELY MOVE.THERE WAS NO GUIDE TO EXPLAIN THINGS TO US.WE WERE SIGNED UP FOR A ENGLISH GUIDE BUT EVERYONE SPOKE ONLY SPANISH.THERE WAS NO EXPLANATION OF WHERE WE WERE OR WHAT WE WERE FLYING OVER.THERE WAS TOTAL SILENCE ON THE RIDE .THE OPERATOR ONLY SPOKE TO THIS FELLOW WORKERS IN THE OTHER BALLONS VIA WALKIE TALKIE.THE SCENERY WAS BEAUTIFUL BUT I EXPECTED SOME KIND OF TOUR EXPLANATION.THERE WERE 11 PEOPLE IN A BASKET MEANT FOR 9 MAX. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE TRIP.
