I found Madrid to be quite fast paced. I live in NYC and the pace in the shopping areas was comparable, I personally did not like that too much since I'm trying to get away from the hecticness while on vacation. Also, I did not find it as artsy as Barcelona.

The Madrid Card was very useful, but my highest praise is reserved for the tourist information people who helped me with the validation process. They could not have been more helpful. I think it could be improved by not requiring the two step validation process which caused the glitch.

Worth it for first-time visitors as it offers such a variety. But probably not fully cost effective euro for euro. But how do you put a value on ease of use?

The Madrid Card has a very good price with a lot of attractions included and you don't have to wait in the queue to buy tickets!

Madrid card makes your life easier when visiting, but needs more information on museums scheduling for the end of the year.

The card was useful, especially for the tour bus portion of the trip. The accompanying guidebook gave a decent balance of 'tourist-y' activities and neighborhood options. Obviously, couples and families will most benefit from the discounts, rather than solo travelers.

The Madrid Card was excellent. It's a shame the staff in the Metro office at the airport gave us the wrong pack, just the culture card which we had to waste time changing in the tourist office in central Madrid.

The card was expensive, and you can't really do any quality visits and get your money's worth in 24 hours. There is the traffic and the timing - the museum and the palace open at 10am and close at 6pm. We were only able to use the card for the Royal Palace, Bernabeu Stadium, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Although I do not think I saved money by purchasing the Madrid Card, it was so convenient and easy to use that it was well worth it. After using the Madrid Card, I would definitely seek out a hop on, hop off bus in any city I travel to.

The card was great value for the bus and the likes of the museums. But a lot of things available on the card were hard to find. The cable cars and I had a bit of a job finding the office where I picked up the card.

We got a ton of use out of our Madrid cards. I had thought we could use them on the metro - I thought I saw that on the website - but when we got to Madrid, we learned that we couldn't use them for that. But we did get a lot of use out of them on the hop on hop off bus and at a couple of sites we visited.
