What You Can Expect
Your morning or afternoon 3-hour tour of France’s oldest city departs from Marseille Vieux Port. Meet your local guide and get acquainted with the deluxe electric bike. Fit with a small motor and optional baby seats and trailers, this modern ride allows you and your family to cover a lot of ground with ease.
First, cruise to the Palais du Pharo (Napoleon's Palace), the 18th-century coastal mansion that stands like a sentinel on the entry to the Old Port. Admire the bustling waterway before heading inland to view Notre-Dame de la Garde, a Neo-Byzantine Catholic basilica that rises from Marseille’s highest point, and the Abbey of Saint Victor.
Continue toward Corniche du Président John F Kennedy (Corniche Kennedy) for a leisurely ride along the sun-kissed coastal boulevard. Along the way, pedal past scenes of French life such as locals playing pétanque – a traditional French game of balls – and fishermen working in the village of Vallon des Auffes and the quaint cove Anse de Malmousque. Stop for great photo ops and learn fascinating anecdotes about Marseille’s long history from your savvy guide. You’ll also have a chance to stop for some lunch or refreshments (own expense).
The 4-hour tour upgrade includes a trip through the ambient Le Panier neighborhood, the oldest quarter in Marseille. Coast through picturesque lanes and under terraced houses strung with clotheslines. Admire the striking façade of the Marseille Cathedral and the Museum of the Civilisations of Europe and the Mediterranean (MuCEM), a strikingly modern accent on Marseille’s ancient waterfront.
My girlfriend and I had a great time on the tour. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in seeing Marseille.
The personal touch provided on this tour was amazing. Was such an intimate way to explore a new city. Both guide and electric bikes were faultless.
Great way to see the city highly recommended
Riding a bike in Marseille with our tour guide Mia was the best way to experience Marseille. We were on a cruise and bit tired of the big city experience. Mia took us to a small fishing village, and many places that locals frequent. She was so encouraging and helpful. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Europe.
