Our guide, Sean, was great...lots of knowledge and always had an answer to our groups many questions. He got us up there before any other group which afforded us the best spot for viewing the sunrise. He was also well prepared with blankets for anyone who didn't realize how cold it could be. There are no words to adequately describe the sunrise...to say spectacular would be an understatement. After the sunrise, many left to head back down, but we stayed to see the magnificent views from the Summit. What a treat. Breakfast at the Kula Lodge was delicious and a walk through their beautiful garden was a great end to our tour
Sean was our tour guide and was on time for our early morning pickup and got us to the front of the line for a great view. The breakfast at the Kula Lodge was nice and their gardens are beautiful. Sean was friendly and informative throughout the trip.
This was the perfect tour for me. Our tour guide, Aaron was the best!! He took excellent care of us and made sure we had the best spot for viewing this expectacular event. He even provided us with blankets and gloves to keep us warm!!! I would recommend this tour to my friends and family.
My wife Debbie and I did the small group sunrise tour to Haleakala, and absolutely LOVED it! Our driver, Scott, was the absolute best! We were picked up on time, and the whole ride there he talked about the sights we were seeing obviously, he was very knowledgeable. He got us to the top nice and early enough to get a prime photo-taking spot. Good old Scott was prepared, too - it was cold up there, and he had blankets, hats and coats, in case. He also showed us some neat tricks on taking pictures with our phonew, which was very helpful! After the sunrise, we took some great pictures of the flowers and vegetation, and Scott even took our picture at the summit sign. We left, and had a very delicious breakfast at a lodge near the bottom of Haleakala. Then, we took a tour of the surrounding garden, where we took more awesome pictures. We then went into the flower shop, where we ordered a beautiful arrangement of local flowers and had them sent to friends of ours they later told us it was the most gorgeous arrangement of flowers they had ever received! We proceeded back to the hotel, with Scott telling us a great story about the sugar cane fields, and teaching us how to speak Hawaiian. We got back to our hotel in plenty of time to enjoy the rest of our day, which we did on the beach by our hotel catching up on our sleep - ha ha! We highly recommend the small-group sunrise tour to Haleakala - you will not be disappointed!
This is a tour to be taken once, very early start! Our tour guide, Aaron, was very knowledgeable and considerate. He had blankets for all of us, which were very much appreciated. Temptation tours has a very comfortable fleet of vans and limits the number of people on each trip. Our tour had only myself, my husband and a family of four. I would highly recommend.

Great experience, Scotty was very professional and proud to make our trip memorable, making sure we saw it all....Well worth the time and expense, definitely recommend the small tour..
Awesome, amazing, spectacular stargazing and sunrise!!! Our tour guide was very knowledgable!
This turned out to be a private tour, just the two of us and Scott, our guide. All started out well the night was clear, and there were lots of shooting stars. However, as we climbed the mountain, clouds rolled in. By the time we got to the top, there was a slashing rain storm and wind gusts of 60 mph. Scott provided us with extra jackets to keep out the rain and cold and found us a sheltered spot to try to wait out the rain. At no time did he make us feel like he minded standing out there in the rain and cold. Unfortunately, the rain did not stop and we had to abandon our hopes for star gazing and a memorable sunrise. However, we did enjoy the breakfast down below and the tour of the Protea garden, which was lovely. Scott was so knowledgeable about the flowers and really made the whole disappointing experience as pleasant as he could. Would love to go back and see the sun!
The most recommended, like a private tour with only four person, which I love it. Our tour guide was super nice and friendly, it was quite chilly on top of the mountain, our beloved guide prepared blankets and hats for us, helping us to take photos and secure the best standing/sitting position to view the sunrise. The view was breathtaking and the trip was worthwhile, thank you for taking care of us, Mahalo!!
The trip was well planned and we were able to see things we would have never seen without the experienced tour guide!
We travelled in a group of six, vehicle was as promised, luxurious! We were picked up at agreed time and our guide, Scotty, was involved throughout telling us about Maui and the flora and fauna. The provision of extra clothing was greatly appreciated and well needed. The experience of the night sky with his knowledge of the stars and planets made the wait for sunrise interesting and very enjoyable. Of course the run up to sunrise was spectacular and Scots knowledge and help with cameras and phones was an added bonus. The group had a great time rounded off by the enjoyable breakfast and tour of the garden. We were even blessed with some fantastic photo opportunities with some beautiful rainbows. Altogether a fantastic trip and worth every penny, highly recommended
Scott picked us up right on time, 2:30 AM. Luckily there was only 4 of us on this tour today or my husband would not have been able to go. He uses a walker. After picking up the other couple we took the long ride up Haleakala. I am very glad we took the tour because I could relax and enjoy the scenery, not worry about the long, winding road. When we got to the top Scott got the 3 of us settled in the prefect spot he went back for my husband. He made sure my husband was well taken care of. On the way up we could see plenty of stars, but when we got to the top it was socked in. Yikes. Then it started to drizzle. Scott brought out his own supply of jackets and made sure we were all covered with something that would keep us dry. It was really cold and my husband was not handling the cold very well, so Scott got him settled in the observation center. The time for sunrise came and passed and still no beautiful sunrise. I was a bit disappointed, but it's not always guaranteed that you will see the sunrise. After waiting a little while Scott took us up to the very top of the volcano, 10,023 feet. We could not even see the observation building just a short distance off. But we did get to see the Ahinahina plant. It is an endangered plant that can only be found on top of Haleakala. It takes 5 years from seedling to flowering. Very beautiful. On the way down Scott got word that the State bird, the Nene, was at the front gate. So we stopped to see it. It is also an endangered bird. Nice. Breakfast was at the Kula Inn. Great food and beautiful scenic view. A quick guided stroll through the flower garden and off we went. On our drive home Scott was very knowledgeable about the local culture and scenery. Back to our room by about 10:00. Glad we took the tour, no beautiful sunrise, but 2 endangered species. Worth it.
This was a great tour! The small group size 6 people and very comfy and roomy van was great - especially for such an early morning departure. Scotty, our guide, was amazing and really made this adventure awesome! He was very invested, truly cares and ensured that he did everything he could to help make this tour a terrific experience for his guests! I wouldn't hesitate to book another tour with the local tour company and would request Scotty as the guide!
Had a great tour of Haleakala Crater and our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable. Scotty had us there first in line for our photos of the sunrise. We were fortunate the weather cooperated with us and we didn't freeze too much, although Scotty had us covered there too and had extra jackets for us to wear. Breakfast afterwards was a welcome addition. All in all a great experience.
Highlight of week on Maui.. stunning view of the milky way followed by sun rise over the volcano.
Al our guide was very entertaining and informative and made the trip feel special.
This tour was epic! The guide was fun and knowledgeable, knew where we had to be and when. The sunrise was spectacular, what was unexpected was how simply amazing the stargazing was prior to the sun showing up - and the guide knew everything to point out! EPIC!
Got out of bed at 2am and thought "what was i thinking"?

Looked like we were looking at the moon. Colours of the sunrise were spectacular. The guide was very knowledgable as well. Would recommend to all.
Amazing! Eric our tour guide was excellent! Very informative, friendly and fun. We enjoyed the whole experience. Sunrise was so exciting. Everything went perfectly from pickup to drop off! Thank you Eric your kindness was noticed. :) Elaine and Paul S.
Aaron was a great host and so knowledgeable. He got us up there nice and early and we got a great spot a bit out of the wind. It was really cold and cannot recommend how important it is to dress right and with all that a blanket is necessary as well. An amazing experience from beginning to end despite getting up at 2:20am. The thousands of stars in the sky and just being there for this new day to begin. Fantastic and something everyone should do at least once. The Hawaiin chant as the sun rose to welcome the new day. You have to do it. Breakfast at the Kula Lodge was nummy.

The tour was amazing and well worth getting up so early. We had the perfect spot and our tour guide knew so many interesting facts.
Great tour. Our guide ( scott ? ) was informative and upbeat the whole time. Would recommend to anyone interested on seeing the sunrise at Haleakala.
Really disappointed! There was ALOT of cloud cover and not the best sunrise but my boyfriend proposed to me on top of Haleakala. Very romantic! Scott our tour guide, was lovely and very professional. He has a passion for what he does. He shared ALOT of knowledge about Maui and Haleakala. Next time we are in Maui we will definetely give this tour another go so a fingers crossed perfect sunrise....
Bring warm clothing, freezing at 4 in the morning 10000ft above sea level.
Guide was excellent, breakfast was fabulous.
Limo bus was luxurious for such an early start, 1.30am pick up.
Bring your camcorder!
This trip was amazing. The bus was very comfortable and our tour guide was great. We arrived at the top of the volcano in plenty of time to see the stars before the sun began to rise. What a sight. Being above the clouds for the sunrise was so beautiful. Well worth enduring the cold for an awe inspiring experience.
