What You Can Expect

Central Melbourne Walking Tour

Flinders Street Station

Federation Square, locally known as Fed Square, is one of the most ambitious architectural designs in Australia and covers an entire city block in Melbourne’s Central Business District (CBD), blending both the cultural heritage of Melbourne with civic purpose. Here is where your city walking tour will commence, with a brief introduction to the history of Melbourne. Follow Melbourne’s timeline from the original indigenous landowners to the immigration and migrant policies of the 1970s that shaped and formed the fabric of Melbourne’s rich culture.

Wander through Melbourne’s famed laneways and embrace the urban soul of the city. From fashion to food, the laneways are home to emerging and well-known local craftsmen and artisans. Soak up the atmosphere created by the café scene, smell the aroma of coffee and spices, and see a variety of urban visual art projects dotted around the lanes.

Boasting an international event calendar that most cities would envy, Melbourne is home to a sporting fever that grips the city. See where battles have been won and lost on the field at the Melbourne Cricket Ground or on the tennis court at Rod Laver Arena. Hear the stories of the infamous Melbourne Cup, during which an entire nation stops to watch a horse race.

The walking tour is approximately 2.5-miles (4-kilometers) long and is at a leisurely pace. You’ll discover hidden gems and explore the city like a local.

What a GREAT tour with a GREAT guide. Only a couple people had booked on a weekend and we were given excellent, personal attention. I found things I never would have sought out on my own and learned stories I never would have known about. I also followed the guide's suggestions and went back to several places which were excellent recommendations. They also do a beer tour which I can't comment on, but if it's half as good as this tour, it'd be worth it.

My wife and I are 30-something locals, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Neither of us work in the city, so we have very little need to visit. As such, we know very little about our amazing city. This tour was the perfect blend of culture, history, arty lane-ways and foody lane-ways, and some interesting local anecdotes. We definitely recommend this tour.
