What You Can Expect

Great Ocean Road Day Trip Adventure from Melbourne

Great Ocean Road

As you depart Melbourne, your day trip to the Great Ocean Road begins with the drive out of the city and to the coast, passing by sights like Bells Beach, where the World Surfing Championships have been held. Continue along Victoria’s southern coastline to Apollo Bay, a seaside resort destination.

Stop here to buy lunch (own expense), and then continue your tour to the Twelve Apostles, the major natural landmark of the Great Ocean Road. One of Australia’s most iconic coastal sights, these craggy limestone pillars that jut up from the water were formed over millions of years of erosion and make for excellent photo ops. Hop off your coach for a little time to walk along the top of the bluffs or walk down the beach trails for more perspectives of this wild and windy spot.

Next, head to Loch Ard Gorge, where you’ll stop to hear the history of this location known as the Shipwreck Coast. Listen to the story of the Loch Ard, a British ship that wrecked in 1878 with only two survivors, who managed to make their way to shore at this sheltered spot. Then continue to your last stop of the day, the seaside village of Port Campbell. Admire its picturesque setting surrounded by Norfolk pine trees and cliffs, and explore the local shops and galleries, if you wish. Or, perhaps visit a cafe for afternoon tea (own expense). Your day trip then ends with the return drive to Melbourne.

Briiiant day out. Weather a bit overcast to start with but brighten up during the day. Coastline is amazing. Roger our driver was fantastic knew a lot about the area and nothing was too much trouble for him.

Although the weather was not that great, windy was terrible, the bus had a flat tire and therefore delayed everything! We had to have junk food for dinner because the restaurants were all closed. AATKing knew about the problem very early in the morning, I think they should have arranged something. Despite everything, we still had a great tour. The scenes were absolutely gorgeous! Out driver/guide was Steve. He was amazing, knowledgeable and articulate. Everything he said was very interesting, 5 myths, misunderstanding about Australia. He really captured my attention. Even his choice of music was very good, I had to put away my ear bug! Great day! Will do it again in a heart beat!

I liked the fact that we did not include a visit at the Wildlife Park , so we had more time to enjoy the time at the shores. Some longer stops providing just enough time to get some food were helping to see more of the scenic road was helpful, too.
The guide was great - friendly, very informative, on time.

Great Tour and I'll keep this review short and sweet.

Stunning from the moment go - make sure your camera is charged as you will be taking photos from the minute you start to the meeting you finish.

The tour guide Peter was a man of knowledge a dead cert to be on your team in a pub quiz and very entertaining, I learnt a lot.

Great value for money and a must see. If you trust reviews then trust me and get this booked up and enjoy!
