What You Can Expect

Great Ocean Road Small-Group Eco-Tour from Melbourne

Great Ocean Road Small-Group Eco-Tour from Melbourne

Spend a full day exploring the natural wonders of Australia’s Great Ocean Road. Your guide will pick you up at your Melbourne hotel in a comfortable, high-tech minicoach, where you’ll join just a handful of other passengers for personalized, small-group experience. Onboard narration is available in 13 different languages through specially equipped iPods.
The Great Ocean Road officially begins at Torquay, a famous surf town of gorgeous, sandy beaches. Visit the home of the renowned Rip Curl Pro Surf competition at nearby Bells Beach, and then continue through several charming port towns before stopping at Kennett River. This lovely eco-park is one of the best spots in Victoria to observe wild koalas.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the scenic town of Apollo Bay, and have a swim along its crescent- shaped beach. Next up, wander among the greenery of Great Otway National Park, which boasts ancient trees among a semitropical forest.

The coastal landscape comes to a dramatic climax at Port Campbell National Park, where you can gawk at the Twelve Apostles — a grouping of massive limestone pillars that rise up out of the ocean. With an optional upgrade, you can take a 10-minute helicopter ride for unforgettable aerial views of this jaw-dropping coastline.

The rugged cliffs along the Great Ocean Road once made for perilous navigation for vessels sailing into the port of Melbourne. Hear the tragic tales of Australia’s ‘Shipwreck Coast’ and visit Loch Ard Gorge, the postcard-worthy site of a notorious 1878 shipwreck. Finally, view the London Arch for a dramatic example of the power of erosion. This limestone formation was called the London Bridge until 1990, when the upper crest crumbled into the ocean.
Stop for dinner (own expense) on the approximately 3-hour return drive to Melbourne. Relax on the ride back to your hotel, or share snapshots of the day with family and friends using the coach’s free onboard Wi-Fi.

Wonderful day. Travis, our guide, was great. Very informative and cheerful.

I like the small group atmosphere. It is quick to get off and on the bus at the various stops. However, the row of seats second from the back are bad - little leg room due to the wheel well and you had to sit behind the high seat over the wheel well impairing vision. Those seats should be left vacant.
The scenery was magnificent!

Very enjoyable tour with a friendly, knowledgeable driver / tour guide. We got to see all the highlights listed in the promotional literature and although there is a lot of driving the tour bus was very comfortable and there were plenty of stops to stretch your legs.

This tour was excellent and I value for money. Scenery magnificent but unfortunately the weather was pretty dull with heavy rain showers. In spite of the weather it was a fantastic trip with the guide being excellent.

Absolutely fantastic day trip. Even though the bus had mechanical problems, which delayed us by almost 2 hours, Paul, our guide and driver had a positive approach and sense of humor that made the day fun and enjoyable. He had a great music track to amuse us and was knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour. Every single stop was scenic and breathtaking so it's hard to pick just one. Only word of caution is that you can't do the ground and helicopter tour of the 12 apostles as its either or given the time constraint. Thanks Paul for making our trip so enjoyable, I can tell you love doing what you do! And I will also stop calling a koala a bear thanks to that song!!

Great tour, worth to join. The driver the same person as guide is experienced and fun. Both the Twelve Apostles and the Loch Ard Gorge are very attractive places to visit and really worth to take many pictures. The rock formations are really fantastic and magical! However, the tour took quite a long time from early morning up to late night. We arrived hotel at about eleven o'clock!
