This was wonderful, So glad we upgraded to ultimate experience, having the personal tour guide was so good. It was incredible seeing these wonderful little penguins coming out of the water and up to their burrows. Certainly worth the extra. The bus drivers are so good, very knowledgeable and tell you lots about everything. Would certainly recommend this, as it is so awesome.
This was my wife's favorite tour. The Penguin march from the ocean is unique. The only thing that was unexpected was the fact that we did not get back to our hotel until after 11PM. Plan accordingly! We had an early tour the next Morning which was probably not the best plan sleep-wise.
this is something to remember, we purchased the vip tour and it was well worth the extra money, we had a great view of the penguins coming up the beach and received a full briefing by the resident staff, it really is a sight to behold. would put this top of your wish list
Driver cum tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable. Shared a lot of information on the background and surrounding areas. 5 Star to Adrian!!!
Great experience at Penguins watch.
We had a fabulous time despite the cold weather, and to have the option of a helicopter flight was an added bonus, and one which we thoroughly enjoyed. Paul our driver, was a wealth of information and very obliging.
Would highly recommend this tour. The penguins were adorable and to be able to follow them to their burrows was an experience. Well done.!
Lovely! You are so close to the penguins it is amazing! Bundle up in the winter months! It can get chilly by the ocean. I took the sky box upgrade and it was well worth it.
Was amazing - worth paying extra for viewing platform plus - saw the penguins up really close
This is a superb tour. I highly recommend the addition of the penguin watching from the platform with the staff.
This tour is so great that the weather (it was a rainy day) didn't spoil the fun. First we visited a small farm where we could see and interact with a great variety of animals such as koalas, wallabies and kangaroos. Then, we moved to the place where those little and lovely penguins parade every dusk. It was an unforgettable experience!!! I can't describe how mesmerized I was with such a view! The driver/guide was excellent, too! Ten out of ten!
Our ranger guided tour saw us sitting on the beackwithin a few feet of the little penguins. It was a magical experience as these little guys waddled right past us. No photos are allowed so as not to disorient the wild life however this did not detract from the experience.
This was a great tour and we were pleased to have spent the extra money to have the Ultimate Penguin tour. This is a small group tour although initially you are in a larger group for the first part when you visit the wildlife park but when reaching the penguins you then split into your booked tours. We were picked up from our hotel by minibus and then transferred to a very new clean coach with a great driver who gave us lots of extra information as we went. The wildlife park is small and personal with great "hands on" experiences. Here you can stroke and have your picture taken with a koala, a wonderful experience and worth every penny. They are so sweet and have the softest fur and I was not rushed out for the next person either. You can also feed and stroke the kangaroos, great fun. I would have actually liked more time there. We then went on to see the penguins and it must be realised that no pictures are allowed to be taken when they come to shore even with the flash off. The rule applies to everyone as it damages their eyes. With our tour we had our own seat mats, binoculars and headsets. We had a great tour with our guide and were taken to various places where we could see the penguins much closer then the other tours. The penguins are very small and great fun to watch. They give you lots of information and will answer all your questions. It can be cold, it can be wet so dress for that. Then when that is over you meet back at the coach and this is the part we were not aware of, you then go to a small town afterwards where they stop for you to go and have dinner before returning to Melbourne. The cost is not included but there is a choice of restaurants and we went to the Italian one (which he recommended and ate there himself) which was fine and had very tasty pizzas and wine. We then returned and were dropped off at our hotel. a good tour which I do recommend.
Was a fantastic day. The tour leader and guides at Phillip Island are genuinely passionate about their work, and enjoy sharing it with tourists
The Phillip Island penguins were so adorable! So glad I went to see them while in Melbourne. The driver guide was fantastic and really knowledgeable and helpful. Phillip Island itself is really beautiful, it was nice to get an overview of the island on this tour and to have dinner there.
This was a fantastic trip. We visited Maru wildlife park and were able to hand feed wallabies and kangaroos and saw dingos and koalas and wombats. Then on to the beach in time to see the adorable penguins coming up in great numbers. Check the tide charts for Summerville beach on Phillip Island, and if it is going to be at or near high tide at sundown, I highly recommend the penguin plus or ultimate penguin tour that affords a closer view from private viewing areas. Otherwise the standard fare is fine. Great fun but it can get chilly with the wind blowing in from the ocean. Bring a jacket.
Excellent trip. Ranger very informative at Phillip Island where we were in a small group of eight with radio contact with him. Many penguins to see at close quarters.
Only downside was pick up was very late and by another tour operator who didn't know to collect us from The
My two UK friends were as enraptured as I was with this trip. Beautifully organised and an absolute joy. Highly recommended to all visitors and locals alike. Peter the coach driver made it even more enjoyable.
Driver / Guide was excellent. Also drove down the back beach road late pm and saw lots of wallaby's.The only draw back is that you cannot take pictures or video of the Penguin's as people previously caused a problem with flash photography and it was a problem for the penguins so they have a strict policy of no cameras. They also have a brewery and sell Penguin beer .
Remember to grab a jacket/windbreaker along, it gets pretty chilly while waiting for the penguins.
Went to maru koala and animal park, you can feed the kangaroos, take a close up photo with the koala n see the sheep shearing. The penguins are so adorable! It was cold but really worth waiting for them to come to the shore and waddle to their burrows. Opt for the PP package is much worth it.
Great tour. As everyone says the highlight really is the Penguin Parade. Pay the extra money for the viewing platform; hundreds of penguins were only a meter away from us! Take a plastic bag with you (to sit on in case the bleachers or ground is wet) and be sure to pack a sweater/wind breaker for the ocean breeze.
Our guide was great and provided extra information about Australia on the drive out. Additionally, he took us to extra stops along the way and we had the chance to see some lovely beaches on Philip Island.
While dinner isn't included, they take you to a small town choices of low and moderately prized meals; I was really surprised how affordable and good the food was considering that they really had the opportunity to overcharge the tourists.
