What You Can Expect
Cross a bridge to access Phillip Island, and then head to the Koala Conservation Centre for one of Australia’s best koala encounters. Stroll along elevated boardwalks to spot the cute critters napping or eating on their perches in eucalyptus trees. Visit the on-site museum to learn more about koala habits and lifecycles, and keep an eye out for resident wallabies and kookaburras.
As time allows, explore the island at your leisure and request to make any stops that interest you. You might visit a local farmstead or head to the southern tip of the island to view the rugged windswept cliffs of the Nobbies and Seal Rocks, home to a large fur seal colony. You can also enjoy a meal in the island town of Cowes (own expense) and browse local shops.
As dusk approaches, make your way to a local beach and settle in to a shoreline viewing platform for the world-famous Penguin Parade. Every night, hundreds of petite fairy penguins — the smallest in the world — emerge from the water here after fishing all day. Watch the awe-inspiring spectacle as the adorable penguins waddle across the sand and through the bush to tuck into their burrows for the night. Your tour includes an upgraded Penguins Plus experience for a VIP boardwalk view of the parade.
