Useful Information
Penguin Parade Phillip Island
If time permits, your trip to Phillip Island might include a visit to Nobbies, a rock formation that’s home to seals and sea birds.
The evening’s highlight is the penguin parade, where you'll watch the little penguins, also known as fairy penguins, return to their burrows after a day spent fishing out at sea. You’ll be able to see the black-and-white penguins emerge from the water and waddle up the beach to their nests. You might have an even closer view of the penguins when you make your way to the visitor’s center, as you’ll pass the world’s only ‘penguin crossing’ for penguins making their way to their nests via an alternate route. Your tour includes the penguin plus experience, where you will view the penguins from an exclusive viewing platform and boardwalk. It also includes entry to the visitor's centre, with ranger interpretation and MP4 audio tour.
As penguin viewing takes place after dark, depending on the time of year your tour might include free time to dine in Cowes (own expense) before viewing the penguins. Your departure time for the return to Melbourne also varies according to the time of year, so you can tailor your tour to explore the beach, shops or restaurants of Phillip Island.
