We had great fun 2 adults/1 child 8 yrs...Captain very funny and staff obliging and polite. really fun trip! Thanks...
Late in the morning on a glorious Melbourne day, my husband and I did the port and Docklands then the Scenic River Gardens trips. We both had an awesome trip enjoying not only the scenery but the friendliness and knowledge of both the crew on the boat. We are coming back with family later in the year and yes, you've guessed it, one of the first things we will be doing is taking them on your cruise. A trip up the Yarra with you is an absolute must for any visitor to Melbourne.
This was a gift for my parents. They are still overseas visiting Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. They have rung me to say it was fantastic.
Great cruise. Lovely views, pleasant service. Unfortunately this site does not allow you to book a time for the cruise, just a date. This made us nervous whether we would be able to get on... We did.
We had two visitors from overseas, the weather was perfect so it was a good way to see the Melbourne skyline and some surrounding areas.
A small vessel with plastic seats. The first few minutes of Melbourne are very nice but then the trip becomes much less scenic and interesting.
You hop on a small aging boat and sit down on plastic chairs. Once the boat takes off - our captain didn't talk or introduce himself for at least 20 minutes. We all sat in silence wondering if the rest of the 40 minutes would be the same. When finally the captain started to talk, it was in a mundane tone, somewhat interesting history of the Yarra. Oh, those tea coffee "refreshments on board" that they offer - it's a tiny table set up in the corner with a hot water kettle, instant coffee and some non-descript tea bags. I guess that's what you get for 25. That could be bettter spent, renting a bike and riding the bike path that runs along the Yarra, reading up on Yarra's history online. I should say that I had no trouble with Viator online booking system. Simple and efficient.
It was very nice sitting on the boat cruising up the river, but the sights you see on that route are not particularly interesting. The return trip had no comments at all. I also thought that it was an hour and half cruise, and we had not quite an hour. I think it could be made more interesting but not sure how - perhaps a different route if possible, like the other way around.
Slightly disappointed maybe would've been better to go in the opposite direction as there wasn't really much up the river to Herring Island. It was a nice relaxing boat ride though. The constant bitchy commentary from the tour guide/driver regarding the sculptures on the island were boring and churlish.
