When your local guide picks you up from your hotel, meet your small group aboard a luxury minivan and head west to the upper Mendoza valley. Delight in the scenic views of vineyards against the Andes as you chat with fellow wine-lovers along the way. Get ready to immerse yourself in the land of malbec – a purple, French grape variety with robust tannins.
Upon arrival in Luján de Cuyo, make your first stop at Vistalba, a family winery constructed in 2002. You’ll learn to identify the wines’ complex bouquets and distinct flavors as you enjoy a tasting of two Tomero Clásicos, one Vistalba Corte C, and one Progenie II.
Next, head to Nieto Senetiner, an international winery that began around 1888 when Italian immigrants founded and planted the first vines in the region. During your visit at this historical site, learn about the different winemaking methods developed over the centuries.
Take a walk around the vineyards and then enjoy a tasting as you hear more about the art of making high-end wines. You’ll try two – one white, one red – from the Nieto Senetiner line, as well as a red wine from the Don Nicanor label.
