What You Can Expect

Cinque Terre Day Trip from Milan

Explore the stunning Cinque Terre coastal region on a day trip from Milan

Meet your guide in central Milan and set off on your day trip on an air-conditioned coach. Sit back and enjoy the scenery as you travel to the Gulf of the Poets (Golfo dei Poeti) on the Italian Riviera.

On arrival, visit the delightful village of Portovenere located on the Ligurian Coast in the province of La Spezia, and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site that includes the Cinque Terre. Learn interesting facts about the area and the Cinque Terre’s terraced landscapes, and hear about its five pretty villages, each wedged into rugged cliffs by the Mediterranean Sea.

Board a boat in Portovenere and enjoy a sea trip to Monterosso al Mare, the largest of the Cinque Terre’s ‘five lands’. When you arrive, enjoy free time to explore the village – divided by a pedestrian tunnel into the old town and new town – as you wish. You may want to stroll along the cliff-framed beach, delve into the pretty-as-a-picture squares, and relax over lunch (own expense) at one of the homespun restaurants or cafes.

Afterward, meet back with your guide and board a train to Vernazza, another of the Cinque Terre's beautiful villages.

Step off the train into this gem of a village, with its prettily painted houses flanking a quaint harbor. Enjoy free time to explore as you please: perhaps with a stroll along the Via Roma, the café- and gelateria- (ice-cream parlor) lined cobbled street, a visit to the 14th century church, or a foray into the lovely narrow lanes.

Later, rejoin your guide and enjoy another scenic train ride to the town of La Spezia. Here, hop back on your coach and travel back to Milan, where your trip ends.

I loved visiting Cinque Terre and wish I could have stayed longer. The boat ride was amazing for the views of all the villages from the water. Our guide was very organized and efficient. The time we got to spend at Montorosso and Vernazza was limited but appreciated nonetheless. Despite all the crowds, I really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it as an introduction to Cinque Terre. I will be back in the future to hike to all the villages!

Beautiful adventure in the colourful North western coastal towns of Italy. From the start to the end of the journey there will be amazing unforgettable views. The food was delicious, one of the best lunches you'll ever have which makes it a highlight of my trip. The tour guide was friendly and full of interesting stories and information about the region. Just some trouble with over crowding on the train rides and other tour groups made it kind of crazy. But overall the tour was well organized, comfy bus ride and enjoyable! Grazie! :
