This was a fun trip. We would have liked to spend a little more time at the Boromeyo palace. There is a lot to see.
The day trip to Lake Maggiore was superb. Well organised and the guide was very informative. I recommend this day trip to anyone visiting Milan.
I'm pleased we chose Lake Maggiore as it was really beautiful with the three islands in the middle. Would recommend Pizzeria La Rondine for lunch much friendlier than the others we tried to get into.
This was the first of four tours I took with this company and it was a great send off. Our buide, Franco, was exceptional and very enthusiastic. I wasn't sure what to expect, but he helped make the trip very enjoyable and informative. We were fortunately a small group of 6 people (the minimum needed for the tour), so I think that really helped make it a better quality experience. While the day was overcast, there was a lot to see and learn about the ancient families who still own homes on the lake. It is the kind of tour that one could do on one's own, which is usually what I like to do, but I thought this was a very efficient way to cover a lot of ground and see all the highlights in one day without sacrificing the pleasure of enjoying the lake and the scenery. While this tour is not as popular as Lake Como (it doesn't run every day), I highly recommend it if you have the time. You won't be disappointed and you may want to go back on your own another time.
Beautiful trip, guide Alex very knolegeble and organized.
The guide was good and gracious. The locale is out of a picture book and we thoroughly enjoyed the area. The bus was luxurious and very comfortable. The stops were all worthwhile.
EXCELLENT trip, especially boating on lake and visits to historical places
This was my favourite tour out of Milan. The Borromeo Islands are out of this world with picture card beauty. We coached to Stresa, did a brief walking tour and then boarded a small boat to cruise past Isola Madre before reaching Isola Bella. Words cannot describe the beauty of this island and the Borromeo Palace, which is still used by the Borromeo family. The guided tour [1 hour] was excellent - very controlled and only small groups at any given time. The tour takes you into rooms with amazing history, decor and murano glass chandeliers. After the tour we had free time to visit the terraced gardens - so so beautiful, and if you were lucky, the white peacocks were out and about. We then continued with a short boat trip to Isola dei Pescatorie [fisherman's island] where we had free time to explore and have a late lunch before heading back to Milan. A most wonderful day! Again thanks to the Zani Viaggi coach driver and tour guide.
Recommend this trip to everyone; very informative and nice guide, luxury bus and good value for money.
Try to eat at Ristorante Casabella at the island - life can't be more nicer at that terrasse.
Excellent tour, beautiful landscape ;the Borromeo Palace has great gardens , a pleasure for eyes.
The tour is very relaxing, the lake is not far from Milan, the agency(Zani Viaggi) is very professional
and the coach was very good.
My favourite off all the lakes more intimate and the islands were incredible
What a wonderful tour! Lake Maggiore is spectacular. The Borromeo Palace on Isola Bella is beautiful and has an interesting history. Our local guide (Sara) was entertaining and knowlegeable. Our lunch at La Pescheria on Isola dei Pescatori was delicious. Stresa is a lovely town with friendly people, quality hand made gifts, and exceptional gelato. We had terrific weather and enjoyed the climate, palm trees, and boat rides. Our local guide (Lara from Zani Viaggi) was very nice and attentive. She even helped us to go for last minute tickets to see Da Vinci's "Last Supper" on our return to Milan, which was a perfect way to end the day. Highly recommended.
