What You Can Expect
Meet your guide in central Milan then travel by air-conditioned coach for a 2.5-hour drive to Venice. Here, your local guide will show you the city’s highlights on a 2-hour walking tour. Stroll along the promenade Riva degli Schiavoni and past the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale) to hear about the doges who once ruled over Venice, then follow your guide into St Mark’s Square.
See the monuments of St Mark’s Square, including St Mark’s Basilica with its ornate Byzantine façade, the Libreria Sansoviniana (the city’s library), and Rialto Bridge. Then admire the elegant mansions that line the Grand Canal. Your guide also shares smaller gems such as the labyrinthine Venice streets and canals known as the calli.
After your walking tour, enjoy some free time for lunch (own expense), then visit a glass-making workshop. You’ll have the option to finish your day with a 30-minute gondola ride (own expense), or take time to explore at leisure.
At the end of the day, you’ll meet your coach and travel back to central Milan.
Lake Como Cruise and Brunate (Nov–Mar)
The following day, leave central Milan in the morning and travel one hour by coach to the Lake Como area for sightseeing on land and water. First, take a guided tour of the charming and historic city of Como, followed by a short funicular ride up to the pretty village of Brunate, perched above Lake Como. Have free time for lunch (own expense) in Brunate before the afternoon’s highlight: a Lake Como cruise.
You’ll enjoy a 1-hour spin around the lake, admiring elegant lakeside villas and the mountain scenery. Look out for Villa d'Este in Cernobbio, a luxury hotel with tropical gardens.
After your boat cruise, take advantage of some free time to explore at your own pace before heading back to Milan in the late afternoon. En route, you'll stop at Basilica of Sant'Abbondio, a famous Romanesque-style church, returning to Milan in the evening.
Lake Como Cruise and Bellagio (Apr–Oct)
You’ll board your coach in the morning for the 1-hour drive from Milan to Como. On the way, you’ll visit Basilica of Sant'Abbondio and Villa Olmo, one of Como's most famous historic homes.
In Como, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the city and free time to explore on your own. Next you’ll take an extended 2-hour boat cruise on Lake Como. Soak up the sight of scenic villages along the lake as you sail over to Bellagio. Disembark in Bellagio and explore the charming town on your own with time for lunch (own expense). Afterward, you’ll rejoin others at the boat to cruise across the lake to Cadenabbia, where you'll meet your coach for the return to Milan, arriving in the evening.
Please note that our excursion to Como was very nice as it was well organized and the
tour guide was very professional.
Regarding the excursion to Venice we were not so satisfied from tour guide and the local one.
Finally I have to mention the perfect service of the Zanni travel.
Overall this was a good tour, but the time in each place was way to short. Each tour should include an additional hour in Bellagio (on the Lake Como trip) and in Venice. We felt very rushed. Also, in Como, we were made to wait for the entire group before boarding the boat and therefore we forced to sit inside as no outside seats were available. The individuals should be given the boat tickets in advance and be able to get on the boat to secure good seating as early as they would like.
