You’ll leave Montego Bay and head east along Jamaica’s north coast to the Green Grotto Caves in Discovery Bay. As you explore the caves, you’ll see stalagmites and stalactites, as well as the bottomless lagoon. Hear stories of slaves who hid in the caves, and marvel at the limestone formations. As a route of escape for the Spaniards during the English invasion in the 1600s and as a place to hide rum barrels during WWII, the history of Green Grotto Caves is rich.
You can’t leave Jamaica without picking up some souvenirs, and there’s no better place to shop in Montego Bay than Whitter Village. This thoughtfully designed retail complex opened in December 2010 and features several places to shop within its colorful, elegant walls.
