There was a reasonable amount of walking required. Seniors and people with health issues should be advised accordingly.

Too bad it rained. The views from the sights and the drive up would have been even more spectacular on a clear day.

The scenery from the Eagle's Nest is spectacular, absolutely stunning, and the tour also travels along one the most scenic roads in Europe. An interesting mix of history is thrown in along the way - the tour stops at the Documentation Centre, a former Nazi bunker in the mountainside, now a museum.

My husband made it clear to me that his entire trip to Germany depended on being able to travel to Berchtesgaden and see the Eagle's Nest, and so when I booked this tour I held my breath that it would live up to his expectations. We arrived early at the meeting point and because there are several busses that travel to various places in Bavaria, it took about 30 minutes or so to figure out which bus was ours. Once the tour guides arrived and posted the signs on the bus, we quickly took our seats and were thrilled with the comfort of the motor coach. The ride to Berchtesgaden was enjoyable and the guide's commentary was interesting. I personally am happy that we had been to Munich prior to this tour because while the guide's information was accurate, it was incomplete. We arrived at the Eagle's Nest and the night before it had snowed, so our views were obscured by clouds and there was still snow on the ground as we walked around outside. We purchased postcards and booklets from the souvenir stand in the same room as the famous fireplace made of the purple Italian marble - and thank goodness we did because those booklets were not available anywhere else. Our guide then led us down to the bunkers and we walked around in there for several hours. My husband was in heaven, between the pictures, posters, memorabilia and all of the historical anecdotes and even recordings of speeches made, he took all of the pictures you could imagine and has memories of an incredible tour to last a lifetime. Our guide made an impromptu stop in the town of Berchtesgaden and we enjoyed it quite a bit. Overall, we felt we had plenty to time to see the things we wanted to see and to take over 1,000 pictures. We would recommend this tour and it was a comfortable way to travel. Once in Berchtesgaden our tour guide was extremely informative and helpful after we arrived in town and grabbed a bite to eat. Though the weather in September 14, 2009 was cooler than what we expected, we would do this tour again and strongly recommend it to anyone else who wants to see and experience the Eagle's Nest.

Trip was great, guide was parochial and quite patronsing at times. The lunch stop was sensational.

Although we had lived in Germany courtesy of Uncle Sam, we had not gotten to Berchtesgaden and Eagle's Nest. This was a big mistake. Our trip was a long lost dream of mine. Well worth it!!!
