What is a trip to Munich without visiting Neuschwanstein Castle! Our Tour guide Carl was great and the ride to the castle could not have been better. He was very knowledgeable and catered the trip to our liking. I highly recommend this trip!
Our driver, Karl, was teriffic. He picked us up in a beautiful S-class Mercedes and we were off an a grand adventure. His knowledge of the history of the castles and Ludwig II was exceptional. We even made a quick detour stop to an additional location along the way that added great background to our trip to the castles. Really outstanding in every way.
Fantastic private guide. Very knowledgeable guide who was able to answer all of our questions. I give the guide an A++ grade. The tour itself was phenomenal. Definitely a 5 star plus tour.
Wow. What can we say? Karl, our guide, was outstanding. These castles are amazing. Far more impressive than I could have imagined. Karl managed to get parking right near to where we had to be, then found a coffee spot with few other tourists. Between castles Karl drove us to the local town for a local lunch (again with no tourists). Excellent day. One does get rushed through the castles, but from the reviews I'd read I was psychologically prepared to not be able to just stop and wonder in awe. Having said that, I still saw what there was to see. The lookout bridge is quite scary - one presumes it is safe and well maintained???
Our tour guide Carl came in a brand new Mercedes 500S. He knew all the scenic places to stop for photos. He was knowledgable, attentive and very personable . We were able to see everything without much waiting . It was a great experience!
The private driver was very good and the scheduled tours went well. Was a great way to spend the day.
The castles were very interesting and greatly enjoyed. There is some hiking up hill and a lot of steps. No complaints except it was very busy with lots of tourist. We did the private tour which was well worth it. The guide knew all the "ins". And really helped us navigate our way from tour to tour.
The insides of the castles were rated "very cool" by my teenage sons. They were disappointed that we didn't get a solo tour as we had presented it to them. Arranged for a private tour, but the actual part through the castles was a group tour--was not clear in the description. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and acquired our tickets by "skipping the lines" along with a "private ride" to the castle locations (did not go in with us, he went for a swim in the lake while we went on the group tour) and drove us by various lake views of the Alpine Region. He spoke very good English and helped us to understand the Bavarian culture and took us to a traditional, non-commercial lunch spot. It was a bit pricey for what turned out to be a group tour.
The tour takes in two fine castles, superb scenery, and our driver Thomas was kind enough to make sure we also saw the wonderful Wieskirche, a rococo masterpiece. It was a pity that the weather was so bad, but then that's out of our control...
Too much "short cuts and back road" experience- lots of extra driving time, not as much flexibility as advertised
There was vry poor communication between Viator and the local guide, who said he had not been told we had booked (and paid for) more than just Neuschwanstein itself. So while we lucked out and managed to get tickets to Hohenschwangau, on the drive down to the castles we meandered through rural Bavaria and then had no time for the walk around the lake or the optional third castle, which was what we wanted to do. Also, there were two groups that travled in two separate cars. Te other car clearly had the knowledgeable guide. We had his colleague, who obviously was not a guide but just a driver who the guide had found. So we simply drove in silence there and back, following the guide's car. The drives were interesting and the scenery was lovely, as were the castles, but it wasn't what we were expecting from a "private tour."
