A must do whole day tour for anyone visiting Munich with any interest in history. We were taken to three destinations (2 castles and coffee stop in Oberammagau). The tour guide gave a very informative talk about what we were seeing (fortunately keeping quiet as we all went to sleep in the 90 minute drive back to Munich).
One or two minor cock-ups with tickets apart the whole thing was run very well. I suggest that you bring some drinks and snacks with you on the bus so as not to eat up too much sightseeing time.
Our trip was on a cold and sunny day in December - ice and snow everywhere and not too many tourists. I understand that July and August are very crowded at the castles with long queues for everything.
5 star. Comfortable spacious coach with toilet well, informed guided tours and perfect timing around places. I will recommend this to all of my family and friends. 10 out of 10
Very enjoyable tour and well organised. Would high recommend it!
Well-structured itinerary, exceptional commentary and overall a really pleasant, hassle-free day. Day tours tend to be quite rushed, but on the whole this was quite a relaxed pace. Highly recommended.
One off the most amazing tours so far, the view from the castle is outstanding, if there is any criticism it would be the walk up the road.
Excellent tour. Guide was great and well worth the time and money. Timely and informative and got to see everything in one day.
Initially I surprised by the number of people booked on this trip on a cold Sunday in December. However, the scrum opposite the Karstadt Department store was soon sorted into the appropriate coaches. The guide was excellent, solicitous, knowledgeable and, when needed, forceful in ensuring that customers returned to the coach on time. The trip itself was enhanced by the good weather and the laying snow in the mountain areas, which gave it quite a magical Christmassy effect. The castles themselves and Oberammergau were well worth visiting and we were also given an insight into the somewhat eccentric world of King Ludwig II. Perhaps the only two reservations I have about this excursion are, firstly, the time spent in Oberammergau was extremely limited and, as a minimum, needed at least another quarter of an hour. More problematic, especially as one of our party had some difficulty walking, was that the excursion required quite a lot of walking. The distance from the coach park to the entrance of Neuschwanstein castle was over 1km and that uphill. Furthermore the castles themselves, perhaps inevitably, were marked by the number of stairs that had to be climbed.
Despite that the tour itself was professionally operated and well worth the money.
Beautiful but wish we could have visited the other castle beside it also. Made sense since we were there. A must see.
This combined tour is the perfect way to maximize your time in Southern Bavaria. I would recommend eating a hardy breakfast so that you may skip lunch and have ample time to wonder the grounds of Neuschwanstein prior to the organized tour. The tour guide was professional and the bus was very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this day tour!
Very well organized tour. Made it possible for us to see areas of Germany we would not have been able to without this option. Transportation was very nice and our guide was very professional and clear when explaining what we could see at each location.
Of all the tours during our trip, this was the highlight of our trip. We were not disappointed. Even though we thought it was a long tour, we really enjoyed the trip and scenery on the way and back from the castles. Everything was beautiful, the castles, the small town visited, the place were we had lunch, etc. Even the walk up the hill to the castle was a little challenging but it was worth it to find the castle at the end of the road. Our tour guide was great and she made it a fun experience.
Well organized, knowledgeable guide. If you are not fit for the walk up to Neuschwanstein (though the way up is nice) you can take a ride in the horse coach, though you will have to wait for an hour so in this case skip lunch or just buy sandwiches. The day was foggy so we could not see the castle until we where very close, but it added a different atmosphere. The trip was worth the time and money.
Excellent tour of two grand castles of Germany and a short stint along the romantic road to get to them.
