Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Royal Castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Day Tour from Munich. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
This tour is a must do for anyone who has a day to spare while in Munich. It's a 10 hour day but so worth it. The guide (Bettina) and bus driver (Mikki) were great. I wish we could have spent more time at Linderhof rather than stopping at Oberammergau. We hiked the Pollat Schlucht trail to get to/from Neuschwanstein, which was wonderful. The only negative about the trip is no photos were allowed inside the castles.
A must see for any tourist. The castles were amazing. Wear comfy walking shoes because the hills around those castles are steep!
This tour was very extensive and was a very full day. If inside visits have been experienced of other European Palaces (e.g. Versailles), perhaps adding the inside visits to both of the palaces would not be needed, however, the inside visits were very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour.
I had a wonderful day touring the castles. The bus was comfortable, the guides were knowledgeable and accommodating and the sites were beautiful. It's a bit of a rush at Linderhof and you have to eat quickly at Neuschwanstein, but nothing that ruins the day. Well worth the money.
The castles were wonderful, the areas were beautiful. It's easy to see why Ludwig II picked the areas he did to build his castles. Newschwanstein may have cost Bavaria all it's money, but has been a tourist draw for multiple years and will remain a tourist draw.
Linderhof is beautiful and the gardens beautiful.
I have recommended this tour to colleagues and friends who visited Munich and will continue to do this.
Nice tour with experience tour guide.
This trip was very good. We had to walk uphill for about a mile!! Did that with bit of a struggle but showed that I am still fit at 75!! But there was an easier way, we could have taken a bus further up and walked down! I think the guide did not know that. But I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Munich
This was a fabulous tour of two amazing palaces plus a short side trip to a quaint Bavarian town. The palaces were a definite must see if you are in the Munich area and our tour guide was very good about keeping everything on schedule. The small town we stopped in was very cute and worthy of many photos.
Great day! Nice bus ride, saw 2 castles and the Bavarian Countryside. Be aware that the entrance fees for the castles are NOT included in the tour price.

This tour was fantastic. King Ludwig is such an interesting figure and I left this tour wanting to know more about him. The Castles are brilliant, if not somewhat bizarre, and the tour provided just enough commentary for you to feel like you knew where you were headed. This tour is long, but worth it.
Was a great tour through the Barvarian country which is really pretty. Our guide provided a lot of great information and kept us ahead of all the lines. It was great to breeze by all the people standing in line waiting to enter. We would have never been able to see both castles in the same day because you have to book times for entry at both.
Breathtaking, absolute must! Tour was well organized and the guide was excellent. Be prepared to walk up to the castle, a 30 mins uphill hike and another 10 mins to the Mary Bridge (a must) to get the best view of the castle. Make sure to listen to instructions by the guide. You will receive tickets for in castle guided tour which has designated time listed on the tickets. You need to reach outside the castle at that time slot. Thanks to Viator, the trip was great!
Despite being somewhat concerned at the numbers of people on the tour, they were handled ably by our amazing multi lingual guide. Despite these castles being 19th century and not 13th, they are definitely worth a visit for the sheer drama and opulence, not to mention an insight into the life and times of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.
