Excellent tour! Many trains had been cancelled due to recent flooding in Germany, but Alun ensured that our group was timely so we would not miss the only train that day traveling to Salzburg. He was very knowledgeable and made it a fun day!
Our day started off uncertain as the floods in eastern Europe cancelled our first train and the next train never came. Our third train was a fast train and we were able to get to Salzburg. Our guide Maxine was great, she was very knowledgable and interesting. We enjoyed our tour of the city and also had free time to wander about. I would recommend this trip if you have only a day to visit this city.
A perfect way to experience Salzburg if only one day to spare. It's just as described, and the free time is lots to get around to everything.
This train option run tour was such a terrific day and an experience well worth recommending to others. Our guide Ian and his sidekick Bernard were exceptional. He navigated us onto the trains and took time with everyone to discuss the history of Salzburg and a great informational through the city walk.We were given an appropriate amount of free time afterwards and there are great shops and restaurants and remarkabke sights to be seen. This trip, and with Ians guidance is a must do for anyone looking for side trips. The train ride and views were also flawless, and a nice option not to be on the bus.
Perfect tour! Our only regret is that we didn't have more time in Salzburg; it's a magical city. The tour guide, Lucia Peraza, was warm, informative--a total delight. This is one tour not to miss!
This was a great trip. The tour guide Jeff was very pleasant, very knowledgable, helpful in his suggestions. The 1 1/2 hr train ride was very comfortable, the walking was broken up into segments, with comments and good information. The 3 hours we had for personal time was just right. Overall a most excellent adventure. The beers, the pastries and the Austrian schnitzel were great, many thanks to Jeff.
Great day, Alun took great care of us, he was informative, helpful, and fun. We opted to eat lunch at the fortress overlooking the alps and the valley of Salzberg, both the view and food were divine. Well done
A great tour guide made the trip all the more pleasant. He was able to navigate the rail system, and give a great tour of Salzburg. We especially liked the level of flexability allowed us during our tour. I recommend this trip with no reservation.
Greatly enjoyed this trip - nice combination allowing an orientation walk with a guide and then free time to explore the city. Our guide (Alun) was outstanding.
Lucia was our tour guide with Radius Tours. She was WONDERFUL!! I was on this tour with my mom. The train ride on the way to Salzburg was beautiful and relaxing. We went on Mon 4/24. The day was a little overcast. Lucia gave us a wonderful tour of the main points in Salzburg. I especially wanted to hear about the Sound of Music sites and she was more than accomodating. There is a bridge that people put locks on with their initials and I was asking her about that and she said that because of all the locks the city cuts some of them down due to the weight. She suggested I use a ribbon or something like that. My mom and I bought a ribbon for less than half a euro at a shop in town and wrote on it and tied it to the bridge. Great idea! We went up the mountain in an elevator above the Art Museum so we could get photos of Salzburg and the fortress. Unfortunately we didn't get to the fortress but were able to get great views from below and on top of the Art Museum. Wonderful day in such a beautiful city. Wish we could have had an hour or two more in Salzburg on our own. The tour had approx 10 people and they were all Americans. Lucia did a great job. Thanks Lucia for such a great day!
Highly recommended. Charming, informative and witty tour guide (Maxine). Don't attempt a similar tour by yourself. This trip is better value and saves you at least an hour of time that would be wasted by working-out public transport and orientating yourself in Salzburg.
