What You Can Expect

Small-Group Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castle Luxury Coach Day Trip from Munich

Visit Linderhof Castle during your day trip

You’ll be picked up from central Munich in the morning for your day trip to two gems of the Bavarian Alps: Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace. On your scenic 1.5-hour drive, your expert guide provides commentary about the history and significance of the Bavaria region and its attractions. Your luxury coach offers comfortable seats, panoramic windows, Wi-Fi and a restroom, ensuring optimal comfort throughout your journey. Enjoy a complimentary snack box on board, with additional snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Your first stop is Linderhof Palace, a small palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Though inspired by France’s Versailles Palace, Linderhof’s interior is actually rather private and humble, as you’ll see on your 1-hour guided tour, but head to the surrounding gardens and you’ll discover why they’re considered among the most beautiful in the world, combining elements of Baroque, Italian Renaissance and English styles.

Leaving Linderhof behind, head next to Oberammergau, where you’ll have about 30 minutes of free time to walk around. Wander the lanes of this quaint village and see beautiful examples of the traditional art of woodcarving.

Continue driving along famous Romantic Road to the foot of majestic Neuschwanstein Castle. Before hiking up the hill for your guided tour of the castle, you can either have lunch (own expense) or set out for Mary's Bridge (Marienbrücke), the best spot for postcard views of the castle.

The most famous of three royal palaces built for King Louis II of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein sits on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau. Take a guided tour of the 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace to learn about its peculiar past: it was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive, crazed king, but it was opened to the public after his death in 1886.

Today Neuschwanstein is an architectural icon; in fact, it inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and closely resembles Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland!

After your tour of the castle, relax on the drive back to Munich.

It seemed expensive at first, but it worth every penny! The trip was really comfortable, informative, very convenient, and fun. Trip to the Neuschwanstein castle can be stressful if you go during the busy season, but this trip definitely saves all the headache!

This was a dream of a tour. I highly recommend the small group. You pay a little more but you will not be cramped up with 50 people. We only had 7 total participants. I am sure it is a little more during high season but my experience was great with 7 people. The bus that you are transported in is really 1 of a kind! Big seats that swivel and recline. Monica was our tour guide and she was EXCELLENT! For us tourists from the states, Monica's english was perfect. She speaks with such a nice cadence. Very knowledgeable and helpful. I really enjoyed our experience on this excursion and honestly if I find myself traveling to munich again I will probably want to take another tour similar to this one!

The small group tour was an EXCELLENT investment. Bus ride was exceptional _ only one seat per row, coffee, tea and snacks. Tour guide and driver provided historical background to our experience. We highly recommend this tour. On the day of our tour it rained all day, however, the tour experience was so good that we did not mind it at all.

This tour was amazing. Our guide was very informative. We loved the smaller group and it was worth the money. We were given food and drinks on the bus which was very nice since this was a long tour. We will use Viator again for future travels!

This day trip was amazing. We had a bus that was very comfortable and the single seats swivelled and reclined so you could certainly relax and enjoy the stunning view. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. It is basically a twelve hour day and worth every penny. There is a lot of walking and much of it is on an incline, so wear comfortable shoes! I highly recommend this tour!
