What You Can Expect

Small-Group Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castle Luxury Coach Day Trip from Munich

Visit Linderhof Castle during your day trip

You’ll be picked up from central Munich in the morning for your day trip to two gems of the Bavarian Alps: Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace. On your scenic 1.5-hour drive, your expert guide provides commentary about the history and significance of the Bavaria region and its attractions. Your luxury coach offers comfortable seats, panoramic windows, Wi-Fi and a restroom, ensuring optimal comfort throughout your journey. Enjoy a complimentary snack box on board, with additional snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Your first stop is Linderhof Palace, a small palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Though inspired by France’s Versailles Palace, Linderhof’s interior is actually rather private and humble, as you’ll see on your 1-hour guided tour, but head to the surrounding gardens and you’ll discover why they’re considered among the most beautiful in the world, combining elements of Baroque, Italian Renaissance and English styles.

Leaving Linderhof behind, head next to Oberammergau, where you’ll have about 30 minutes of free time to walk around. Wander the lanes of this quaint village and see beautiful examples of the traditional art of woodcarving.

Continue driving along famous Romantic Road to the foot of majestic Neuschwanstein Castle. Before hiking up the hill for your guided tour of the castle, you can either have lunch (own expense) or set out for Mary's Bridge (Marienbrücke), the best spot for postcard views of the castle.

The most famous of three royal palaces built for King Louis II of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein sits on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau. Take a guided tour of the 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace to learn about its peculiar past: it was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive, crazed king, but it was opened to the public after his death in 1886.

Today Neuschwanstein is an architectural icon; in fact, it inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and closely resembles Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland!

After your tour of the castle, relax on the drive back to Munich.

The bus was luxurious and Franzi was a great and knowledgeable and funny guide. She kept the bus ride entertaining and pointed us to the best locations for pics and souvenirs.

The best tour I have ever taken. The single seat design in the bus makes it a very comfortable day. More tours should be offered in this style of bus. The driver and tour guide were both 5 star

We had a lovely tour guide, who spoke excellent English, and the tour stopped at 3 places. The bus was very comfortable, and had snacks and drinks available for purchase.
Highly recommend the tour, but be prepared to hike up a big hill or pay to ride in a horse drawn buggy to the Neuschwanstein castle. So good walking shoes are recommended.

I didn't end up on the luxury tour, my husband ended up with availability that day, and there were no openings, so the company was very flexible and transferred my payment toward two of the economy tour tickets which was very generous of them considering I had booked a non-refundable tour. They even came and found me, and handed us two of the prepared snack boxes that were given out on the luxury tour and apologized for not having room to add my husband that day to the luxury tour. They were quite gracious, easy to work with for trying to make a last minute change, and we had a lovely time.

We loved this trip. It was so nice to be in the large bus with a small group and our guide was very good.
This was completely worth the price!

Our guide Ursula and driver Freda were amazing. The bus was very comfortable and up scale. Ursula filled us with stories and history, which enhanced our tour of the castles. It was even a rainy day, but that didn't spoil our adventure. Highly recommend this. Nice not having to deal with the crowds as Ursula took care of everything. She was awesome.

Very good tour guide with excellent English, very on top of things and extremelly helpful and kind. Provided all the historical information about the placecs and the castle we were visiting in an organized fashion while we were in route to the different locations. It was about 1 1/2 hours of driving to/from and the rest you spend it in the castles, in the small towns, etc.

Some people complain that you don't spend enough time in the Bavarian towns but that is a very personal thing. I found the time to be just enough and the towns to be gorgeous but small so an hour in the town and you have seen it all.

The bus was awesome same bus that was used by the Bayern Munich soccer team. You get a snack box some chocolates, peanuts, cookies and coffee as well as tow free drinks after that you would need to purchase it but it included beer, etc.. I got my two free drinks on the way back to Munich so we didn't find the issues that other people encountered with the drinks or being charged. Everything is clearly explained at the beginning of the trip and the guides within the castle are included and are great about 30 minutes for each Neuschwanstein and Linderhof.

Guide was very knowledgeable about Bavarian history and told a lot of fun stories. My only regret was that not sufficient amount of time for Linderhof. Should be 1 hour min. This is one of the worlds most beautiful gardens and no time to explore but around the build. Less time in the city, more time at Linderhof

Great tour, stunning castles and unbelievable country side. The bus is the way to travel total luxury no false advertising here! Both Neuschanstein and Linderhof castles are out of this world really nice, only pity is not being able to photograph the interior but must be seen to appreciate the quality of the workmanship of these buildings. Great tour guide and driver really had a enjoyable day.
