What You Can Expect

Small-Group Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castle Luxury Coach Day Trip from Munich

Visit Linderhof Castle during your day trip

You’ll be picked up from central Munich in the morning for your day trip to two gems of the Bavarian Alps: Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace. On your scenic 1.5-hour drive, your expert guide provides commentary about the history and significance of the Bavaria region and its attractions. Your luxury coach offers comfortable seats, panoramic windows, Wi-Fi and a restroom, ensuring optimal comfort throughout your journey. Enjoy a complimentary snack box on board, with additional snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Your first stop is Linderhof Palace, a small palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Though inspired by France’s Versailles Palace, Linderhof’s interior is actually rather private and humble, as you’ll see on your 1-hour guided tour, but head to the surrounding gardens and you’ll discover why they’re considered among the most beautiful in the world, combining elements of Baroque, Italian Renaissance and English styles.

Leaving Linderhof behind, head next to Oberammergau, where you’ll have about 30 minutes of free time to walk around. Wander the lanes of this quaint village and see beautiful examples of the traditional art of woodcarving.

Continue driving along famous Romantic Road to the foot of majestic Neuschwanstein Castle. Before hiking up the hill for your guided tour of the castle, you can either have lunch (own expense) or set out for Mary's Bridge (Marienbrücke), the best spot for postcard views of the castle.

The most famous of three royal palaces built for King Louis II of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein sits on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau. Take a guided tour of the 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace to learn about its peculiar past: it was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive, crazed king, but it was opened to the public after his death in 1886.

Today Neuschwanstein is an architectural icon; in fact, it inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and closely resembles Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland!

After your tour of the castle, relax on the drive back to Munich.

This was amazing and even better than we expected! From the comfortable and spacious coach to our fantastic guide and driver I'm sorry, I can't remember the ladies' names, every bit was well thought out. The information and stories along the ride, the time for shops and photos, the tours and, of course, the drinks and snacks, all made up for an entirely unforgettable experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a bit extra when picking a day trip to the castles.

The luxury coach is really comfortable and it was really a small-group tour 8 of us. By virtue of the small group which made us agile, the tour guide made a quick stop at Oberammergau which was a BIG bonus. It would be better still if our tour guide could lead a quick walking tour around Oberammergau as we were kind of lost and unsure of the directions. Overall was a pleasant experience especially experiencing winter wonderland during this trip.

Fantastic tour!!! Ursula was a wonderful guide, filling us in on the history of King Ludwig, as well as the Bavarian country side. Worth every penny. Am so glad I paid the bit extra for the smaller tour and perks that came with it. Can't wait to visit this area of Germany again with my husband. Spectacular, despite the rain and fog. The weather added mystery and enhanced the amazing colors of Indian Summer.

The premium small group tour was wonderful. We were comfortably seated in a bus with one captains chair on each side for great views and leg room. We received snacks and drinks for the ride. Our guide Ursula ? was so knowledgable, pleasant wand made the trip go quickly. The castle was fogged in until we got up close but was still beautiful. We truly enjoyed the beauty of the area with fall leaves to frame the castle. We took the shuttle up the hill to walk down from the bridge closed unfortunately so we did not need to climb up to the castle. A short trip to picturesque Oberommergau to enjoy the scenery painted buildings. A tour through Linderhof castle was also enjoyable and only wished for more time. Couldn't have been a better day.

The small tour bus was the most luxurious bus we have ever been on. 25 large swivel chairs made the 12 hour trip very enjoyable and comfortable

The tour director and bus driver were very knowledgeable of the area of Germany we traveled through.
Neuschwanstein and Schwangau castles is in a beautiful area of the Alps The history behind the castles are very interesting. We had plenty of time to explore the area. The tour guide had tickets for our tour of the Neauschwanstein castle at an appointed time.

There was a nice stop at Oberammergau for lunch, snack or shopping. It is a cute little village in The Alps.
The final stop was at Linderhoff Palace. The palace tour is beautiful from the interior rooms to the exterior statues and fountains.

On the ride back we were treated to wine and beer to enjoy while we drove back to Munich.
If I have the chance to take a small group tour again I will The additional cost is definitely worth it.
