Ben, our guide, was awesome. The trip keeps a good pace even for a senior citizen. The woods were amazing. Make sure you get into the woods first to have some quiet. The other uses arrive just after and it will get packed and loud despite signs indicating to enter quietly.
The wineries were nice. The last one Kline, has beautiful grounds.
We had an excellent time on this trip! The driver, Mark, was very friendly and knowledegable. He provided a lot of historical info throughout the trip. Muir Woods was beautiful and the three wineries that were selected were great! I really liked this tour because it also gave us a chance to choose our own lunch spot in Sonoma Square rather than providing us with a cheap picnic of deli meats and cheese. I highly recommend this tour for those that don't want to spend all day wine tasting and want to see beautiful Redwoods. This tour is also more than worth the price because if you were to try and rent your own car in SF, you would pay three times as much by the time you have to pay for parking at your hotel, rental fees, gas to all the places we went, and not to mention the headache of trying to navigate to awful traffic and very whindy roads to Muir Woods.
This trip was awesome, I really enjoyed it! It was the perfect combination for me of nature and wine. Muir Woods was magical, it definitely exceeded my expectations! Sonoma wine country is beautiful and so is Napa. The weather was perfect, and our tour guide was absolutely wonderful. We had a great time, and he told us some great stories. The 3 wineries we visited were great, really enjoyed the wine tastings, which we had a few between all the wineries, and ended up all singing a song on the ride back to San Fransico! Really good fun!
Your friendly driver cum tour guide was very resourceful and accomodative. We enjoyed his company and superior information about the entire tour. I somehow forgotten his name but I remembered he is from Atlanta, Georgia. Muir Woods was a great experience into another green world that is so peaceful. Wine was tasty and memorable too. Excellent tour!
We were very impressed with this tour and our tour guide, Sophia! We spent just enough time enjoying Muir Woods before heading to three fun, family owned wineries. However, Sophia really made the trip the most enjoyable. She had tons of interesting facts and stories about everything in the area. I don't think the trip would have been nearly as enjoyable if we didn't have Sophia's commentary along the way!
Our tour guide Mark from Astronomical Tours was great! The first part of the trip was to Muir Woods, on the way Mark told us all about the history of the Redwood trees and of Muir Wood. The walk around the wood was peaceful after the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. Next was on to the main event of the Wine Tasting. We visited our first winery before lunch "Mayo" winery. Small family run, great tour guide Natalie and fantastic wine, pink bubble, white and red.
For lunch we went to Samona Square, plenty of restaurants to choose from, we went to Sunflower Cafe, great food and atmosphere.
The next winery was "Maddona Estates". Fantastic commentary by Maurice, very informative and full of fun too. The last winery was (oop forgotten the name, party after all the wine tasting before and during this one). It stared with tasting 4 reds and then 3 whites and a rose and then you could go into the winery shop and try more of their wines.
On the way back we dropped some of the bus off at Saucalito, more restaurant recommendations from Mark. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel which was a bonus, not sure I could have walked up to the top of Powell and California street where we were staying!
Great tour, good value and brilliant guide, thanks Mark.
Great tour! The day was long, but we packed a lot into it. Mark was very personable and knowledgeable about the area, Redwood trees, and wine. It took a little extra time to pick up and drop off everybody at their hotels, but with a SF native driving the bus (Mark!) that was like an additional little tour. If you want to see Muir Woods and the wine country in one day, I can't imagine doing it any other way.
A wonderful way to spend a day. I went on the tour solo for my fiance was attending conferences for work. I felt comfortable going it alone with the others in the group. Everything was as promised and timely. We started at Muir woods which is (cheesy but true) - magical. Our guide did a great job and got us there before it got too noisy to enjoy. We then went to 3 great wineries which had wine that hit price points on any budget. The passion these people have for their craft made the tours even better. I had a great time and will be booking through viator again in the future.
This was a day trip to Muir Woods followed by wineries in Sonoma and Napa Valley which included amazing views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. The small bus was very comfortable, but what made the trip top notch was our guide/driver Mark. He gave us thorough information on all aspects of our trip from the history of California and San Francisco to the micro-climates of wine country to the conservation movements that established the national parks, and all done with humor. If this is your first trip to the San Francisco wine country this is well worth the money. The wineries visited are less well known but excellent in different ways--one better quality of wines, one excellent in education, and one just a beautiful experience. of course it did help that we had absolutely beautiful weather with no fog for our final spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Would do this again in a heartbeat.
I was very pleased with our tour. Our tour guide was friendly, pleasant and eager to be of help in any way. He gave a clear account of sites and and their significance. Being a history buff who does research before visiting a new place, much of what he shared was known and since he was much younger than myself, probably not aware of the historical significance of the area. My only concern was that he held his microphone with his right hand while driving with his left. We did not encounter any traffic issues but I think it would be safer if he had both hands on the steering wheel, especially when driving on the winding roads up the mountain. My personal preference would have been to have more time in Muir National Park and since I am allergic to wine, could not take full advantage of the wine tasting. But all-in-all, the tour was great. Our tour guide Ben was fantastic and our tour mates were great! We were picked up right on time and beat the traffic wherever we went. Muir Woods was interesting and beautiful. We learned a great deal about both wine and the area from Ben who was know
We had a wonderful time on our trip to Muir Woods and the wine country! Matt was a great guide and truly knew the history of the city! I do wish we would have had a little more than one hour for Muir Woods, but other than that no complaints!
The tour and trip were amazing. Mark, our guide, did such a great job and was so informative and had a great sense of humor. I have already recommended this tour to friends. If I come back to San Francisco, I certainly will use your company again for a tour.....Chris
