Enjoyed viewing Pompeii even though it was rainy, windy and cold, our guide was excellent. Decided it was to cold and windy to do Mt Vesuvius and switched to Sorrento excursion. the guides were very accommodating in making this change.
We had a superior trip with Viator in Naples. We were able to visit Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Also had lunch. The guide was readily identified. He spoke excellent English. We learned so much. And, it was very nice that there were only 4 of us, so it was more personalized. The cost was half of what the cruise ship charged. I highly recommend them! Joan Wentz
Amazing, our guide (Andrea) was exceptional, and Pompeii was breath taking. Some tourists decided to pass on the trip to Mt Vesuvius. It is a strenuous hike up the mountain, but in our opinion a do not miss. The smoke wafting out of the crater is ominous.
Great tour ! We were very pleased with our first Viatour excursion. We booked the Naples Shore Excursion - Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii Day trip. The tour guide promptly collected us from the Naples terminal on time, and we made several stop picking up other travelers prior to beginning our tour. This was not a problem. We were a small group, around 10 of us. We toured Pompeii first. The tour guide spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable and informative. We then proceeded to a pizza lunch, which was excellent with large portion for either pizza or spaghetti. Then to Mt. Vesuvius... we were on our own to hike to the top or wander at the base of the mountain. The tour guide gave us plenty of time to visit, and we were back to our ship in ample time for sailing. I will definitely use this company again in the future.
Excellent guide who spoke excellent English and knew his history. Loved Pompeii. I can say I've climbed Vesuvius....don't know if I'd do it again.
Tour of Pompeii was interesting and about the right length with a knowledgeable guide. It would be a big site to find your way round on your own. Lunch was efficient and adequate. Walk up Vesuvius was quite difficult but well worth it as the views are spectacular with the crater (no lava but some steam) on one side and the Bay of Naples on the other. Tour made special arrangements to get us back to the ship in time despite Naples traffic.
Andrea was our guide and he was amazing. He made Pompeii come alive for us. We could feel the people, the animals, the hubbub of the vibrant city as if it were alive today. He was awesome! The hike was great too. Pretty rigorous but great view from the top!
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, departing promptly from the port at Naples and meeting our guide at Pompeii. Andrea was very knowledgeable and his commentary of the site was both informative and amusing. After a pizza lunch we travelled to Mt Vesuvius, a journey of 45 minutes, during which the weather took a turn for the worse and on arrival at Mt Vesuvius a storm was imminent and therefore for safety reasons access to the mountain was closed, disappointing but unavoidable. Good value for money excursion.
Just the right amount of time spent in Pompeii. Andrea, our tour guide made the tour a lot of fun and kept all ages engaged. Highly recommend the Vesuvius climb. I was a little worried about the climb from reading other reviews about how difficult it was. My husband, myself, our three teenage daughters, and our 9 year old daughter all did it with no problem on a hot day. Yes, it's steep, but certainly walkable and you have plenty of time if you'd like to take it slow. The views into the crater and out to Naples are beautiful from up there. Lunch was provided at a tourist stop pizza place. The pizza was excellent and the service was friendly and accommodating. BRING A WATER BOTTLE!! You'll even have an opportunity to refill it inside Pompeii from a spring fed fountain.
Fantastic tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. Full of interesting facts which were delivered with wit and humour from our tour guide. It's not every day you get to climb an active volcano or see the ruins of Pompeii! Once in a lifetime opportunity....do it!
Took our group of 6 on this shore excursion. I would never have learned so much about Roman life before the eruption of Vesuvius. Our guide Andreas brought this place to life again with his stories and running commentary, especially at the brothel and the bath house. The is a lot of walking and the reward was stopping for the most delicious pizza before we continued our bus ride up the mountain with lots of hairpin turns-look for some of the sculptures along this road. The parking lot is very close to the top of the mountain. Unfortunately, we did not get to climb to the top since a visitor had been struck by lightning the day before our tour and the path to the top was closed. However, it was still worth the trip for the beautiful views from near the top. Would highly recommend.
Really enjoyed the tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and also good fun. Would highly recommend.
We have used a lot of different tour companies but this company is my favoite so far. Our tour guide presented Pompeii by way of telling stories of everyday life. He was funny, entertaining, and had a wealth of knowledge. This was one of my favorite spots in Italy and should not be missed. Climbing Mt. Vesuvius was also a terrific experience. You need to be somewhat in shape or have lots of time but how often does one get to see inside a volcano? Do it!
