Can't fault it. Guides, driver, vehicle, punctuality all very good.
Excellent! Loved our guides, both were very funny and knowledgeable. Had a great time!
We were there on June 20, 2011. This was an excellent excursion at a very good price. The tour guide was extraordinary. We were picked up at our cruise ship dock on time and taken to Pompeii for a very informative tour. Not rushed at all. Pizza lunch was delicious, then a tour to the top of Vesuvius. Taken back to cruise ship dock on time. We would highly recommend this tour
Our entire family at enjoyed the tour very much. Our guide at Pompeii was extremely knowledgeable and very personable. Climbing Vesuvius is a must for those who enjoy hiking. The view from the top is amazing and the crater and lava flows are unique to the area. It was a busy, hot day, but we returned to the ship with no timing concerns.
We were told to arrive half an hour before and yet the guide was 10 mins late for when the tour should have started. Lunch was a bit chaotic but the tour guides and the rest of the organisation was excellent. Would
This was a good excursion. Enjoyed it a lot although if you have issues with breathing or walking, I recommend you sit at the bar/shops instead of climbing the path up Mt. Vesuvius...people in better shape than I were huffing and puffing! The crew will get you back to the ship on time, show/do all that is promised, and you will pay less than the cruise lines charge.
The guide met us promptly at the port, with good signage. We took a short small bus run to Pompeii, where we were joined by another couple of groups. The tour of Pompeii was great, but would have enjoyed a slightly smaller group. Our guide was very knowledgeable and provides the walking tour of a huge sight in a well-timed, but not rushed experience. He was very knowledgeable about the life style and daily life of the inhabitants and was able to bring that to light during the tour. After the tour in the hot sun, we enjoyed lunch, in a much cooler surrounding. After lunch, the tour divided up into the small group we enjoy to climb Mt. Vesuvius. Again, a great explanation of the volcano and its history as we winded up the road to near the peak. Due to individual pacing and preferences the walk to the crater's edge was self-paced. He gave of 50 minutes for the 2 miles up and down, in 90+ degree heat and on a very slippery trail. He was great about what to look for, steam plumes etc. It was amazing to see where the edges of the last eruption totally wiped everything out to the sea have been slowly reclaimed. Great tour, and the two guides the one who delivered us to Pompeii and our Mt. Vesuvius guide were excellent and very knowledgeable. Would recommend, it is very uneven walking and the hike was not a given in 50 minutes with the heat.
Excellent tour with pleasantly small minibus sized group. Excellent Pompeii guide..really brought it to life despite relatively limited time. Straighforward pizza lunch just near entrance to Pompeii...unclear why walk up Vesuvius was given so little time in the heat (just about made it and took a few photos) when the tour returned to ship with a full hour to spare in relation to "all aboard" deadline.
The guide was very informative and with a good sense of humour, so it was a pleasant trip.
We were 29 people in our group (so don't think is a smaller group) but the guide managed it very well and never felt a big group in Pompei.
The lunch is very basic but good quality.
The trip was everything we expected, the tour guides were very knowledgeable but did not overload us with information, allowed ample time to enjoy the sights, were not rushed through. The guides answered questions and were very personable. Unfortunately the weather did not permit us to climb Mt. Vesuvius. WE were met on time and returned to the ship with ample time.
This was a great trip! We met our coordinator right off the ship, met up with the other people on the tour, and were off to Pompeii. We were glad to have a tour/driver, because navigating Naples would not have been enjoyable on our own. We were given over to an Italian tour guide to take us through the ruins of Pompeii (he was a little hard to understand, but was doing his best and was well-informed on the site), and then brought to a restaurant for lunch. The restaurant was a little ways off the main street, so we were able to escape the choas of the city and enjoy lunch. Our main guide, Annalise, was a bit rushed and frantic; she could have done a better job of giving 5 minute warnings and that type of thing, but she got us where we needed to be throughout the day. After lunch we were taken up Mt. Vesuvius, where we were able to hike the last bit on our own (not the best thing right after pizza and wine :) This hike was more vigorous than I expected; slow and steady is your best bet. The views from the mountain were awesome. The "guide" at the top offering a 5 minute explanation of the volcano was not very good- although he was not part of the Viator package. We were rushed back on the bus once we got back down, because other tour members needed to be back to their cruise ship (ours did not leave as early). All in all, I would recommend this tour to others:)
The tour was good ~ the guide not so good ~ tour of Pompeii was great but we were just dumped out to climb Vesuvius on our own. The Excursion description stated "You can choose to climb Mt. Vesuvius, accompanied by your guide...." When we asked if he was going with us he said "Oh, no!!"
Pompeii was amazing. Very nice lunch included. Vesuvius was harder to walk up than I had anticipated, but we did it!
