Very well organised. Picked up from our hotel on time, Really impressive tour of both sites and very friendly tour guides. Thanks for a great day.

Pompeii was unbelievable. Herculaneum not so much. Could have spent at least 1/2 hour more. Felt rushed.

The tour guide around Pompeii was very knowledgeable and we were able to see quite a lot of the site. Herculaneum is a must to see if you want to see more preserved buildings. It doesn't take as long as Pompeii to go around the whole site. Great that the tour combined both in one day.

Fantastic to have been able to them both and we were taken aback with the sheer size of Pompeii, therefore having a tour guide is an absolute must. We expected to see more artefacts and the plaster bodies/animals but were told that they are in a museum in Naples, we went there and there were plenty of artefacts but no plaster bodies/animals only to be told that they are in a little known museum back in Pompeii. Lunch was good

After 3 different cars/buses the tour started. The initial guide was just okay without proferring much information. The visit to the jewellery showroom was a WASTE of time and really should NOT be included..in fact I declined to go and had another expresso instead. Lunch included was inedible..in fact stomach issues followed. Pompeii was fantastic but Herculaneum was just out of this world. The guide at Pompeii was informative and we all got drenched in a 20m downpour. A convenient way to see both.

Great day out. The only thing was that each person had to pay for entry separately it would be good if the tour company could arrange this in advance and include in the price to avoid queuing. Herculaneum was brilliant, I highly recommend this too!

The tour guides (on the bus and on site) were both very good; I enjoyed visiting Herculaneum more, simply because it was not so crowded and we could walk around more leisurely. Pompeii was very crowded and we had to stay with the tour group. The food for lunch was not so great. Surely there must be better restaurants around.

picked up on time {7 45} by very smart driver from our hotel who took us to where we got the coach. That came but our only complaint is that we were on the coach til nearly 10 am collecting other people who weren't there or ready.Nearly 2 hrs before we began the trip! That said the rest of the tour was great. The guides Jasmine and Maximus [at Pompeii] were quite honestly the best. The heat was so intense but it didn't phase them. The lunch was ok. When asked "seafood pasta or roast beef" the 4 on our table said roast beef and that is what we got -- a slice of [very nice ] roast beef and nothing more ! The starter was great as was the ice cream and the waiters very funny and fast . As my husband and I were the only ones going to Herculaneum in the afternoon we actually had a car and driver to ourselves. He again was great, waited 2 hrs then took us back to hotel .All the guides were so knowledgable and passionate about their subject it made everything so interesting. We had seen several tv prorammes about Pompeii and it all came alive on that day.The tour was worth every penny.

First, the cameo factory was interesting, but felt really rushed. Second, Pompeii was great. Our tour guide was very informative, but again, pretty rushed. Third lunch, not so delicious, but our driver came and got us as we were eating. Then last, Herculaneum, really rushed. Wouldn't really say we saw any of it. Our fault to a degree, we should have known we would need more time. I guess if you weren't interested in ancient history or architecture...but then why would you bother at all...

We spent more time in the shops and eating lunch than actually at the sites. At lunch we were treated like cattle squashed onto 3 tables when the restaurant was almost empty and also did most of the food serving as well. The guide was unable to control members of the party who were continually late which meant the rest waiting for them

Pompeii and Herculaneum were brilliant and definitely a must see. Guide was excellent and added a lot. However far too much time wasted, 9 hours on tour only 2 spent in Pompeii and 1 in Herculaneum (without guide). Rest was in que or waiting. Take train and get there yourself then join a tour.

This tour was very poorly organized and had a number of missteps. First, we were picked up late and then taken to a store that makes cameos. This seemed to be a waste of time, as I doubt anyone was really interested or bought anything. Next we were taken to Pompeii - the entrance ticket was not included in the tour. We had to wait in line with all other tourists (and there was only one ticket agent) to purchase a ticket. We had a guide devoted to Pompeii who was informative; however, she didn't always inform the group (which was more than 20 people) what the next stopping location was. Because she was delivering the tour in different languages, we stepped away from the group at one point to view another site. At that point we got separated from the group and were unable to find them. We eventually were able to find the guide. We were taken to lunch (included) at an acceptable restaurant. The group then was split into several subgroups. We had to wait at the restaurant for over an hour after we finished our meal for the driver to arrive. We were the only ones going on to Herculaneum. We were dropped off at Herculaneum and had to again buy our own tickets and there was no guide. It was unclear how were to be returned to our hotel. When we finished walking around, we found a driver awaiting to take us back to the hotel. Overall, the tour was disorganized and not really much of a tour but a transportation service.

Rubbish. Given 2 hours in Pompeii and 1 hour in Herculaneum however we were driven to two tourist shops in Pompeii, one in the morning and one in the afternoon which we didn't want to go to and were majorly overpriced. We were also abandoned for 2 hrs for a very sub standard lunch. Waste of time.

August 2013

While the Pompeii portion of the tour was satisfactory (apart from being shuffled into a store selling trinkets and encouraged to spend money), I was greatly disappointed with the Heraculaneum portion of the tour: we were simply dropped off a couple of blocks from Heraculaneum, pointed in the direction of the archeological site and told that a car would be back for us in a few hours-- there was no guide, audio guide or any other service provided to warrant our visit to Heraculaneum being called a tour. Additionally, and I am not normally one to complain about food, but the lunch we were provided was inedible (e.g., unripe, green tomatos, greasy mystery meat and very cheap spaghetti).
