Nashville Showboat Lunch or Dinner Cruise on the General Jackson

General Jackson Plying the Cumberland River

After a Nashville hotel pickup, climb aboard the General Jackson, one of the largest and grandest paddlewheel riverboats in the country. This majestic vessel was designed to recreate the impressive showboats that cruised the waters of America’s rivers in the 19th century.
Travel along the Cumberland River, admiring the view of Nashville’s city skyline and neighboring landscape while relaxing on the outer deck or indoor cabin. Then enjoy a savory Southern-style mean in the boat’s onboard Victorian theater.
For lunch, the buffet typically consists of a mixed green salad with a choice of dressing, then roasted chicken in rich country gravy or slow-roasted, sugar-cured country ham with mustard-molasses glaze and corn bread. For dessert, there’s pumpkin cheesecake. Appetizers are also available for purchase. The lunch cruise features a lively comedy/variety show called “Nashville Live.”
For dinner, start with a mixed iceberg wedge salad followed by braised short ribs with barbecue demi-glaze, sweet potato gratin and the chef's choice of a seasonal vegetable. Dessert is a chocolate tart with Jack Daniels whiskey-spiked seasonal fruit. Appetizers are also available for purchase. The dinner cruise offers a production of “Heart of Tennessee: A Musical Journey,” featuring a live orchestra and a cast of dancers in extravagant costumes.
The evening concludes with a Nashville hotel drop-off.

We had our friends with us from England for this cruise. We all really enjoyed the meal, which was very professionally served. The servers were very helpful in suggesting drinks, serving and removing plates and overall, were so friendly and fun. The entertainment was first rate and we really enjoyed the quick-change for the women during the show. We were lucky in that we had a Christmas show. Really lovely.

It was a great trip, we did the evening tour. It was a perfect southern evening, warm, beautiful sky, great hospitality. I was somehwhat concerned when I read the menu because some in our party were vegetarians and one 5 year old. It was a great surprise to find prime rib rather than fried chicken in gravy and there were lots of vegetarian side dishes. The entertainment was country music show and it was the first night, it was great. We met the bus driver at the harbor and he was late getting there. It would have been nice to know it is reserved seating because I was paniced that we would't have seats worries, we were right up front. Highly recommend.
