Make your way to the Nassau waterfront, then board the local ferry for the half-hour ride to a tiny private island off the coast.
When you step off the ferry, meet a staff member and get a short introduction and safety briefing. Learn about the biology and behavior of the southern stingrays, which can grow up to 5 feet (2 meters) wide and hear about how to safely handle them.
Follow the onsite trainer into the shallows, where you'll stand waist-deep for a half-hour session with these graceful, gentle marine animals. Pet, feed and hold the rays, then pose for a souvenir photo that will be available for purchase later.
You'll have a few hours of leisure time after your stingray experience. Jump in the pool or go for a swim in the calm ocean. Rent snorkeling gear (own expense) to check out the stingrays from a different vantage point. Relax on the soft sand beach with lunch or a drink in hand, both available for purchase at the island bars.
You'll cruise back to Nassau on the ferry at the conclusion of your 4.5-hour eco-adventure.
