This was a very informative tour. Our guide Carol did a wonderful job in describing the houses, the architectural styles and what was distinctive about the Garden District. Wear good shoes though--the sidewalks were uneven.
Libby was great - clearly knows her history and really brought neighborhood to life!
This was a great tour!! Libby, our guide, was wonderful and had so much information about the area. Enjoyed learning about the Garden District and the Lafayette Cemetery!! Highly recommend this tour!!!
Our tour guide was fantastic. She was so knowledgeable and made the tour most enjoyable.
A second visit inside a home would have been good, as we only went into one, but we learned a lot about the styles and types of architecture used in many buildings.
It is a must to get out of the French quarter and learn the history of how it all got started. Carol was great and even though it was freezing, we had fun. Cemetary was amazing!
The architecture and history as well as local pop culture references made for an interesting and varied tour. Our guide, as a New Orleans native, was knowledgeable and the opportunity to see the Garden District and the Cemetery with that depth of knowledge as our guide was a great resource. Educational and entertaining. I recommend that you call ahead to make sure the procedure for check in is followed as we walked from our hotel on Royal to the ticket book by the Cafe du Monde and then over to the lighthouse check in where the van was waiting. The trains and trolleys have an impact on when the vans can get through that area so be as considerate as you can with an early arrival about 20 minutes before tour departure.
The Guide, Carol was well informed about the Garden District and could answer any question. Well worth the tour instead of taking the street car down Charles street. The tour takes you off of the main street and you walk the neighborhood. Saw some celebrity homes and also toured the the biggest home in the area= 22,000 SF.
Tour also takes in a cemetery which you learn about burial customs.
Unbelievable area of the city. Excellent guide A southern charmer!!!!
Carole was a fabulous tour host and her knowledge of the history of the area is amazing, great tour
I have been to New Orleans many times over the last 30yrs. This was my first time to take the Garden tour I'm glad we did !! Love the history and the beautiful homes.....
The all day tour was great as we started out with the airboat ride seeing some alligators and small ones also. Gary our guide told us about the swamp and trees and was very interesting and impressed. We then went onto the plantation homes and the workers homes and how they lived back then. The plantation home was beautiful inside and out and when they were built and amazingly how they were built back then. We then had a wonderful lunch of Cajun food. We finished up with the last plantation home which was beautiful inside and out
Loved every minute of it. Our guide was full all kinds of incite, personal stories, and getting to go inside one of the mansions was the best!
Excellent walking tour. Great for a history lover!!!! Highly recommend .
Marcia was our guide and she was fantastic!! The tour was interesting and we saw many beautiful and historical mansions. Marcia was well informed and told us many interesting stories of the residents of this neighborhood. We were also able to go inside of one of the houses which was a huge plus and other tours did not have this luxury !
