Meet in front of the French Market at 12pm to begin your 2-hour walking tour. Your friendly local guide will lead you through the French Quarter to some of New Orleans’ top local chocolatiers and dessert shops, giving you a sweet taste of the city’s most sinful confections.
Your first stop is Croissant D’Or, serving up fine French pastries in the heart of the French Quarter. Here, savor the tender flakiness of a chocolate croissant, and then head to Aunt Sally’s for another classic French treat -- pralines. Watch skilled workers perform the 150-year-old process of cooking original Creole pecan pralines right before your eyes, and then try them for yourself. As you'll learn, pralines can be traced back to old French recipes brought to New Orleans in the 1700s, so you can feel like a part of history as you savor every bite.
Next up is a cute little boutique called Sweet Palate, known for its artisanal confections from Europe's most luxurious producers. Switch things up with some gelato here, and then continue to Leah’s Praline. Steep yourself in olfactory bliss at this old-fashioned candy shop.
Step back in time with a visit to Laura’s Candies, whose storefront was established in 1913. Laura's homemade treats -- like the to-die-for Mississippi Mud -- are perfection! Next, head to Southern Candymakers to savor some fun confectionary gems of the Gulf South including chocolate nut clusters and hand-decorated chocolate frogs and alligators.
Bite into a hand-dipped candied apple adorned in chocolate or other goodies at Mister Apple. Your final stop is Bittersweet Confections, a premier chocolate boutique offering handcrafted chocolate truffles and artisan confections, as well as chocolate classes that you can sign up for to take later.
You’ll enjoy eight tastings total. Your group will enter some shops, and at other places will enjoy some tastings 'on the go' due to limited space. As you walk, your guide will impart some history of the famous, atmospheric French Quarter, providing a more immersive experience.
