Joe was an excellent guide. He grew up in New Orleans and was very knowledgable about the history. I would recommend taking the tour at the beginning of your trip, because he will point out other restaurants and bars that he suggests. He gives you a lot of history that you wouldn't read in a book. The tour company provided us with one cocktail to get us started. We went to several very unique and historical bars. Some of the cocktails we tried were Sazerac, Pimm's Cup, Green Fairy and Mint Julep. At each bar, Joe told us what cocktail(s) it was known for. He usually had 2-3 suggestions for each one. There are 18 different bars on his list, it just depends on what day it is and which bars have private events going on or are closed. I would highly recommend this tour, for the great drinks that I probably would not have tried, and for the history lesson.
Joe Gendusa was a wonderful guide, providing a relaxed and informative tour of the history of the French Quarter and it's residents. The cocktails were delicious, learning their origins added to the enjoyment, but, be warned, they pack a punch! Following the tour we returned to several of the bars/restaurants to sample the dishes recommended by Joe, and we were very glad we did. If you're only in New Orleans for a short time, this should be on the top of your list!
We were a bit worried by the soft spoken man who greeted us at the pavillion. We quickly figured out we were in for an awesome tour by a guide (who not only created and wrote the book about this tour), but also has a deep passion for the history of this town! Don't miss this tour!!!
We had a great time. We learned so much interesting information, and we all thought Joe was fabulous.
Loved hearing about the history associated with the bar buildings such as Antoinnes and the hotel. The drinks weren't bad either :)
The tour guide was fantastic! The cocktails were delicious! I enjoyed the history if New Orleans!
Fantastic! This is a not to be missed tour. We were fortunate to get Joe Gendusa as our guide. We visited many bars and hotels and had the opportunity to purchase and sample cocktails. He has a wealth of knowledge about the drinks, the bars, the hotels and the history of the area to share. This tour delivered more than expected and I would recommend it to everyone.
This was a nice tour and provided interesting historic information on the city and the establishments we visited. Everyone approved of the drinks also.
Excellent! The places we stopped were very elegant and the drinks were great as was our tour guide!
Had a great time on the tour with Joe. It was one of the highlights of our New Orleans trip.
Joe was our tour guide and we were so lucky to have him! We absolutely loved this tour and the history of the French Quarter and New Orleans was fascinating. We had a small group which worked really well. We saw areas of the restaurants and bars that regular patrons wouldn't see. The drinks were good too; we tried most of them. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone!
Joe, a very knowledgeable guide from NO, not only showed us some of the most exciting and historical bars but gave a wealth of information about the French quarter, peppered with stories.
This tour was phenomenal - it is not a pub crawl - it is more of a tasting of some of the more famous drinks created and or commonly enjoyed in this area and a wonderful history tour of New Orleans. Ask for Joe - he was an awesome tour guide. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is the best tour ever! I will take the tour each time I return to New Orleans. Great guide Sandi and great drinks, great history and great group.
Excellent tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting. Good time.
Fun tour, knowledgeable guide but boy, the drinks are strong! Also be aware that the actual drinks are not included so be prepared to pay at the bar for any of the libations you care to taste.
The New Orleans Original Cocktail Walking Tour was one of the top 5 thing I did while I was in New Orleans this past week. Our tour guide explained not only the history of the city but the history of the alcohol and how it has brought New Orleans to where it is today. If I return to New Orleans I would do this again for sure.
