We were fortunate to have as our guide the retired teacher who wrote the book about these historic bars/restaurants. Even if you don't drink it was full of facts and history. Tour was to last 2 hours but we were entertained for 3!
Joe was a very knowledgeable and personable guide and we were captivated by his stories. The cocktails were really secondary to the whole experience. Highly recommended.
On day one of our visit, my wife and I decided to sign up for this tour with some reservations- as we are not big group tour people . However, I have to say that this was one of the highlights of our visit to New Orleans. Sandy, our guide, was very informative and obviously very passionate of the city's cocktail history and the local prime haunts and bartenders in the city. While the 8 people on the tour began as strangers, we left being best drinking buddies- with a healthy dose of a shared knowledge of the cocktails and local establishments of the city.
This is a great way to experience New Orleans and learn some of the fascinating history of the town, while tasting some unique cocktails. Our guide was fantastic!
This was BY FAR the highlight of our trip! Our guide, Joe, was absolutely fantastic. He knows so much history and is a wonderful storyteller. In fact, the tour lasted far beyond the two hour limit- we all stayed at the last bar and hung out with Joe! I cannot recommend highly enough- you will not be disappointed! Do this tour on the first or second day of your trip- that way, you'll know your way around the Quarter and will get a chance to figure out all the places you want to be sure to have a meal or get a drink during your time in New Orleans!
Excellent way to see some of the French Quarter. Fun tour and Sandy, the tour guide, was informative and fun. She provided what were to me little known facts that were very interesting. Might do this tour again next time because I understand it changes a little each time.
Brian was an excellent guide@! He had a wealth of knowledge about not only the cocktails and their history, but also sharing in some fun history of New Orleans. I highly recommend this tour, so glad to have done this. It is a great way to see some of the bars not on Bourbon or the other toursit usuals...Thanks a lot Brian and Viator! Adam and Nadia.
Lots of fun and the tour guide was quite knowledgeable on the history of the restaurants we visited.
Great locations and fun way to get introduced to some good bars.
This was tour was excellent and we went to places we would never have found by oursleves. There was no pressure to buy cocktails but what we did was buy 1 cocktail in each bar and shared the drink between the 2 of us.
Fun tour! We went to three local spots and received a lot of interesting information. Our first stop was Antoines (with a pretty rich history and a kick-a** wine cellar), followed by the Court of Two Sisters and then The Olde Absinthe House.. Our guide was fantastic and the entire group had a blast..
Sandi was fabulous! Best time ever...learned some history - laughed - had great drinks at some character-ridden classics. A must do for all those coming to NOLA.
Excellent tour. Highly recommended for any first time travellers to New Orleans, especially worth doing in the first day or two.
