Swamp and Bayou Sightseeing Tour with Boat Ride from New Orleans

Swamp and Bayou Sightseeing Tour

Choose a morning or afternoon pick‐up from the French Quarter and climb aboard your coach for the ride deep into Cajun country. Enjoy the changing scenery as the cityscape transitions into expansive wetlands. You coach delivers you to the launch point across the Mississippi River, where you’ll transfer to an open‐sided, covered boat – great touring year‐round! – and set off on the fun and educational ride.

Your knowledgable native guides will take you on an unforgettable 2‐hour wildlife‐spotting expedition through this myth‐laden Louisiana terrain. Glide along the water, viewing the lush greenery and abundant local wildlife, including nesting alligators, egrets, raccoons, snakes and giant nutria. True animal enthusiasts will love getting an up‐close (and interactive) look at some of the ‘friendlier’ animals. Get great up‐close photos and learn about the history and mystery of the swamps, including the culture and ingenuity of the Cajun people who have populated this region for almost 250 years. Your guides will share stories about Cajun music, bayou lifestyle and culinary traditions – like the creation of Louisiana’s signature gumbo, as well as information about the region’s passionate wetland preservation efforts.

Your coach returns to the French Quarter by mid‐afternoon or evening.

I wanted to pet one of the Gators but the guide had a baby gator so I could put that crazy idea out of my head. Would take the tour again!

Was torn on whether to do the airboat tour or the boat ride. While it might have been fun doing the airboat, the boat tour was a bit more relaxed and a great way to see the waterways and take great pictures. The boat captain even called out to some gators to come to the boat and they actually showed up! Plus, got some great history and stories about the swamp, bayou, and property ownership rights....as well as great pics!

Bus driver was very informative and swamp tour guide was also very entertaining. We saw lots of alligators. FYI - If you have the tickets on your phone, you will need to take them to the ticket office at the natchez dock for paper tickets even though it says etickets are accepted.

Good fun. We saw a couple of smallish alligators, with one coming right up alongside our boat. We also saw a herd of around 20 wild pigs, which also came up to the boat. The guide was engaging and informative and gave us a good view of the history to the bayous and swamp as well as pointing out the local fauna and flora.
This was one of our holiday highlights and is recommended.
