January 2009

Cool building.

Yona Schimmel Knishery

April 2008

We stopped at this place on the Lower East Side of Manhattan before heading into Brooklyn. My favorite was the potato knish.

April 2008

The neighborhood known as DUMBO means Down Underneath the Manhattan Bridge Overpass which is exactly were we were standing when we took this photo.

The DUMBO Waterfront

April 2008

An ancient set of rail lines still snakes through this area down near the East River. It really felt as if we had traveled to another place and time. The views looking back at the city were breathtaking.

An ethnic eatery in Sunset Park Brooklyn's Latin District

April 2008

Wow is all I can say! We had never seen this many Latino Restaurants anywhere outside of South America. The food was fabulous and the local folks were so friendly in this part of Brooklyn. Who knew?

The Main Street in the Latin District

April 2008

There were more genuine Mexican Restaurants than I could count. No Taco Bells here, only authentic Mexican food.

Fresh Hot Delcious Knishes!!

April 2008

This tray came out moments before I snapped this photo. Need I say more?

An old warehouse down at the docks

April 2008

This just seemed like it would make for an interesting photo. Would you agree?

A row of limestone buidings

April 2008

These type of homes are apparently very common in Brooklyn. I never tire of photographing them.

The Mighty Manhattan Bridge

April 2008

What a majestic bridge this one is. This photos hardly captures it. You really need to see it up close and in person.

Great Food at this Place

April 2008

We had a Cuban Sandwich from this place. So good, so fresh and delicious. Perhaps the best food tasting on the tour.

Interesting Foods at this old Deli

April 2008

We got to sample some very interesting kosher foods from this Hasidic deli in Old Williamsburg. I was surprised at how good this food actually is.

Sunset Park Brooklyn

April 2008

More row houses in the Latin district, Brooklyn. There were great photo opps at every turn. Thank goodness I brought my camera.

DUMBO Street Scene

April 2008

The tall buildings and narrow cobblestoned streets were like scenes from a movie.

A Reindeer made of Construction Cable

April 2008

We came across this creature while walking around DUMBO. It seemed to be a sort of garden of modern sculptures.

An old Pizzeria in Williamsburg Brooklyn

April 2008

We passed by but did not stop in this store. I just really like the old sign.

Key Lime Pie Factory in Red Hook

April 2008

We passed this place on the way to Sunset Park after leaving DUMBO.

Roebling Liquors

April 2008

As it was mid winter, the bare trees revealed this old billboard on Roebling Street in Williamsburg.

Sunset Park Street Scene

April 2008

Another colorful Brooklyn building.

Kosher Wine Shop

April 2008

Our guide took us for a "bonus" wine tasting at this great little kosher wine store. This was a real treat and exceeded my expectations. My impression of all things "Kosher" has certainly changed.

Gottleib's Kosher Deli in Old Williamsburg.

April 2008

This place has been around since the 1960s. The decor seemed a bit dated but the food was fabulous.

A Wall of Graffiti

April 2008

Something that's hardly seen any more. I came across this wall near a public housing project. It added quite a bit of color to the area.

Brooklyn or San Francisco

April 2008

This is one of my favorite photos of a block of Brownstone buildings in Brooklyn.

Looking Back at NYC

April 2008

This photo was taken while we were standing on waterfront of Brooklyn facing back at lower Manhattan. You can clearly see the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.

The Mighty Manhattan Bridge

April 2008

Our guide told us that this bridge is one of the city's busiest., transporting over 350,000 people every weekday. Prepare yourself for the thundering roar of the trains that cross it every few minutes.
