86th Floor Observatory:
The 86th floor Observatory, 1,050 feet (320 meters), reached by high speed, automatic elevators, has both a glass-enclosed area, which is heated in winter and cooled in summer, and spacious outdoor promenades on all four sides of the Building. High powered binoculars are available on the promenades for the convenience of visitors at a minimal cost. Souvenir counters are also located in the 86th floor observatory. The 86th floor observatory is handicap accessible.

102nd Floor Observatory:
Admission tickets are only sold at the Observatory ticket office, located on the 2nd floor of the building, at a cost of $14 in addition to regular admission tickets.

There are 3 lines at the Observatory: the security line (required for all visitors), the ticket line and the elevator line. You will be required to join the ticket line to exchange their vouchers on arrival.

• At peak times, the wait for elevators can be very long. The Observatory sells an "Express Pass" for an additional USD$27 per ticket (no refunds), which allows you to skip to the front of all 3 lines. The "Express Pass" cannot be purchased ahead of time; so it is recommended you pre-purchase your regular ticket and then determine, upon arrival, if purchasing an "Express Pass" is necessary
• No refunds due to weather conditions, length of lines, or wait times at the building
• The Empire State Building reserves the right to close the Observatory early on very busy days

• Everyone must go through the security check when entering the building
• No glass or bottles are permitted to be taken to the Observatory
• Cameras and camcorders are allowed, but no tripods
• You can ONLY bring carry-on-size bags and backpacks.
• There are no rooms to check coats, packages, baggage or suitcases, so please don't bring them to the Observatory
