smartest thing I did was to buy the "Skip the Line Ticket Upgrade" money well worth spending, it saved us almost 2 hours in lines. The people working at The Empire State Building gave us priority service and we made it to the observation deck in approx 15 minutes.
The line we had to stand it was fast moving -- it was great! The day we had tickets for it was cloudy, so they gave us tickets for the next day.

I wouldn't visit again without the skip the line tickets. Make sure the staff knows that you have skip the line passes. They weren't too keen on helping us but FINALLY we found someone to help us and it was smooth sailing.
The day we set aside for our trip to the ES building was the only day of bad weather while we were in NY. You could not see the top of the building due to the fog. However we were able to change our tickets and went the following day and the queuing really was not an issue with normal tickets. What a fantastic view, so good we waited until sunset and then until it was really dark just to see the changing scenery - spectacular. A must for anyone visiting NY.
Very easy to already have the tickets. Glad didnt pay the extra for the express que as there was none (went about 2 on a Saturday)

It was a blustery and rainy day, but we still enjoyed our visit. We took our 12 yr old granddaughter for her 1st trip to the Empire State building and she can't wait to visit again. We all enjoyed it so much and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

Skip the Line tickets was worth every penny. I recommend it completely. We were treated very well by all and so enjoyed the views. In our prior year, we went to Top of the Rock instead of Empire State due to the lines at the Empire State. With the Skip the Line Tickets, we enjoyed the Empire State views more than Top of the Rock.
